About Admiral Money

Admiral Money is an exciting, new division of Admiral Group. We have the freedom and innovation of a small start up with the security of a large parent company, Admiral.

The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June 2017. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December 2017. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.

We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in and are ready for a challenge to help us to achieve our aim of creating a special lending business for our customers.

The Role

It is an exciting time for Admiral Money as we continue to build the business to support longer-term aspirations. As we increase focus within our product verticals, we are looking for a Product Manager to support plans and materially increase the contribution our lending product makes to Admiral Group.

The successful person will be part of a small product team focused on Unsecured Personal Loans. You will need to be an inspiring individual, capable of owning initiatives and working in a team to create and deliver the product strategy.

Working in close collaboration with other Admiral Money & Group departments is of equal importance. You will work in a cross functional team with areas such as credit risk and pricing, alongside shared services for customer facing areas such as operations, digital, underwriting, collections etc. This model ensures best practice is shared across all functions whilst maintaining an autonomous model which can drive this product forward at the pace needed. Admiral Money is a close-knit, creative and ambitious team.

The right person will be an aspiring leader, customer centric, commercially astute, analytically minded and have great stakeholder management. In addition to developing their P & L knowledge, they will help drive change for Unsecured Personal Loans product development, change execution (Squad delivery), Data, Digital, Pricing, Commercial, Marketing, Underwriting and Ops ensuring great customer service are all at optimum levels in order to achieve our aims.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership, People & Relationships

  • Help establish the product vision and strategy for Unsecured Personal Loans
  • Efficiently execute to launch initiatives within a cross-functional teams to deliver on the team’s mission
  • Create good relationships and build a strong network across key business functions

Building the Business through Data Driven Enablers

  • Help develop data driven product roadmaps and build alignment across key teams (Digital, Operations, Partnership & QBR Process) and the Admiral Money Leadership team
  • Support delivery of the Product Roadmap to achieve the Product Strategy through best-in-class product development and management practices
  • Develop multi-channel campaigns and communicate effectively your expectations and the results/learning
  • Maximise PCW as a distribution channel, including exploring its full range of data assets for future pricing and analysis 
  • Identify distribution opportunities beyond PCW, through new Partnerships and develop our Direct to Consumer enablers
  • Become a product and customer expert understanding how product features benefit our customers
  • Work across the Product team to identify end to end enhancements and own the delivery of change to realise efficiencies and increased value at each stage
  • Keep up to date with market threats, industry and competitor trends and share knowledge with the team. 
  • Identify opportunities and scope out areas of investigation to add to the roadmap
  • Research, understand and present information to support recommendations in a suitable format (slides, formal papers, confluence etc)
  • Host ideation workshops with business areas and carry them through to delivery 

Commercial Focus & Financials

  • Define goals and success with clear measurable objectives and key results
  • Develop data driven business cases for your ideas and future change/enhancements and agree these with our Finance Business Partner before presenting to the Admiral Money Leadership team
  • Actively develop your knowledge of P&L performance – understand key levers through increasing sales, balances and retention, with loss and expense ratio performance.

Risk Management

  • Monitoring MI on how the product is performing from a customer’s perspective and identify areas for improvement
  • Understand how proposed changes would impact the customer outcome, as well as the commercial and operational impact on the business
  • Clearly articulate risks/issues to the roadmap plan to the Admiral Money Leadership team

Key Requirements 

Essential:

  • A proven track record for materially contributing to high-performing teams to deliver great business results by creating and executing on a strategy successfully.
  • Drive the use of analytics to develop deep insights into the product and customer, ensuring key decisions are data driven and turning insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborate well with fast paced delivery (virtual) squads; have expert stakeholder management (both internal and external) and cross functional team communication skills
  • Results driven and commercially aware
  • A proactive and positive mindset orientated towards continuous improvement and test and learn; embracing new ideas
  • Strong digital awareness – working with the Head of Digital, assess and develop digitisation opportunities to determine where they could be utilised to improve performance, customer service and/or reduce costs. This would include advanced analytics; machine learning; chat-bots; and robotic automated processing (RPA).
  • Have worked in Agile delivery teams or have an understanding of Agile ways of working
  • Management of risk and control mechanisms

Desirable:

  • Previous involvement in strategy planning, establishing a roadmap and product development
  • Experience at a management level within a cross-functional or fast-growing business area
  • Experience managing projects or programmes
  • Experience managing external relationships
  • Proven successful track record of managing, mentoring and coaching
