Tell us a bit about yourself.
My name is Katie, I am a Collections Executive in Admiral Money and I have been at Admiral a year and a half.
What attracted you to this role? And what’s an unexpected part of the job that you enjoy?
My initial attraction to the role comes from my passion for helping people and my empathetic nature.
Something unexpected that I enjoy about the role is how the most upsetting or challenging calls, turn out to be the most rewarding, as you’re helping someone that’s in a really tricky situation.
What does a 'typical' day look like for you?
A typical day for me starts with saying good morning to my team and checking in on everyone. We then move on to our allocated jobs for the morning, and then I speak with customers or deal with customer emails dependent on the day. No two days are the same, which I love!
There is also the opportunity to help out in other departments such as structured debt which I am also doing. I’m constantly learning which means my days go by super-fast! You’ll find plenty of community spirit and culture at Admiral.

If you had to pick your favourite thing about your Collections job, what would it be?
Amongst many reasons to love working for Admiral, I think my favourite thing about my job is working amongst a team of very kind and friendly people. I’ve made friends for life in Collections. Alongside this, I love the rewarding nature of the job by helping others, and just being able to be my authentic self!
What makes this role at Admiral Money different from other companies?
Admiral Money is a company that values its colleagues. Most importantly, the room for development and growth in your career is huge if you put the work in.
I’ve done so much in less than two years of being in the company, I’m grateful to have Admiral Money as my employer.

How do you ensure that customers feel genuinely heard, valued, and supported every step of the way?
I ensure my customers get the best out of my calls due to the amazing work our trainer put in to get us to be great Collections Executives! I wouldn’t be as skilled as I am today without the trainer that we had for the first four weeks of the role. There are tonnes of training and career growth and development to help people be their best.
If you could give one bit of advice for people thinking about applying for this role, what would it be?
You won’t regret it. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoy my role in Collections, this department will give you so much knowledge and experience. Dealing well with vulnerable people is a skill and a very good one to hold.
