Job Purpose

The People Services Executive will provide generalist human resources and employee relations related advice and support across the business.  Working as a HR Business Partner aligned to  a specific business area, you will work closely with all levels of staff, looking after staff welfare and taking an active role in addressing the operational issues, whilst making a proactive contribution in shaping the strategic direction of the business area.       

Please note, this is a 12-month temporary role to cover maternity leave. 

Main Duties

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of their designated business area including their current and future objectives and challenges
  • Make a proactive contribution in highlighting, addressing and resolving operational issues within their dedicated business area
  • Make a proactive contribution in shaping the strategic direction of their designated business area
  • Use early intervention mediation techniques to prevent or minimise employee relations issues escalating 
  • Offer support and guidance to employees experiencing work related and / or personal problems.  Signpost employees to appropriate external organisations for targeted, specialist advice and support
  • Assist in the identification of any skills shortfalls within their business area.  Provide coaching and support to people managers in relation to people management, best practice and the application of policies and procedures where necessary
  • Provide people management related training in line with department needs
  • Actively challenge the norm within the business areas and within People Services to bring about beneficial change
  • Communicate clearly and frequently with other team members to ensure they are kept up to date on relevant issues and are acting consistently
  • Take on specific employee relation cases in the form of Appeals and Grievances ensuring that they are dealt with in a thorough and consistent manner

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  • Previous HR experience including knowledge of employment legislation 
  • Previous experience of people management
  • Good standard of English and Numeracy
  • Aptitude for learning and development
  • Previous experience of working in a confidential and discreet capacity
  • CIPD qualified or willing to study towards the qualification
