We have an unique opportunity to join us as a Technical Fleet Underwriter in our new venture within Motor. This opportunity will suit experienced Underwriting professionals who are enthused by a role offering genuine opportunity to have an impact on our Fleet product in the market. You’ll work closely and collaboratively with our Senior team, using your expertise to help shape it’s direction.

Responsibilities

  • Providing excellent quality service to customers and brokers in line with service levels
  • Delivering quality underwriting decisions within your designated authority
  • Providing expert Underwriting advice to other areas of the business and act as a senior referral point across the business
  • Development and maintenance of motor fleet & ancillary policy books/associated policy documents; including interpretation and application of the books, working closely with all relevant departments
  • Development and maintenance of underwriting rules, processes and guidance
  • Influencing change by identifying and building an awareness of gaps, risks and opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining good stakeholder/SME relationships across the business and ensuring changes are communicated effectively
  • Monitoring the performance of motor fleet account at a portfolio level and liaise with other functions within the business to enact change where necessary for example pricing, claims etc
  • Creating and maintaining underwriting procedures, controls, authority limits, and underwriting standards – supporting senior management with continual review of this framework

Essential skills and experience

  • Underwriting experience in commercial motor fleet products
  • The ability to challenge ideas, using previous experience to identify gaps and improvements that can be made for the customer and business
  • Proactive and innovative – able to think outside the box
  • Good knowledge of commercial motor insurance, legislation and regulation
  • Ability to convey technical information efficiently to non-technical audiences and to influence stakeholder decisions
  • Team player with proven ability to collaborate and build effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable skills and experience

  • High degree of financial awareness with a thorough understanding of the technical elements of insurances products and portfolios
  • 5 years + experience in Commercial Motor Fleet products

Location / Working Arrangements

We are open to discussion around remote working possibilities (UK only). Our whole business is still working remotely. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home. We expect you to be working remotely for the foreseeable future, however, there may be occasions where attendance in the office is required, but we do offer flexibility depending on your location.
