This is a new and exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing team. Travel insurance within Admiral has increased ten times in the last 3 years, both in terms of policies sold and department size. Our plan is to continue to grow at a fast speed.   

As Head of Product, you will set the strategic direction for the Travel Product and drive the team's performance to meet its strategic objectives. 

There is a vision for Travel to become a top player in the Market by 2027, and there are strong goals for growth. This will include growing the core product and optimising the current product offering and distribution channels, as well as capitalising on cross-selling opportunities to our existing Admiral customer base and looking for opportunities in new products and channels. 

Reporting to the Head of Travel, the Head of Product will be responsible for: 

  • The performance of our existing products ensuring they provide fair value for our customers, with Consumer duty embedded in their evaluation and ongoing development.
  • Our overall product roadmap and innovation in new Insurance products and expansion into wellness products.
  • Direct marketing and PCW relationships for our core product.

Main Duties: 

  • Strategic planning for the growth of Travel, and management of the product portfolio.  
  • Develop, communicate, and deliver on a product roadmap which is aligned to strategic objectives of both Travel and the wider business. 
  • Ensure appropriate product governance is undertaken (including but not limited to periodic product reviews, conduct risk MI, complaints RCA, repudiation reviews) 
  • Lead new product innovations and drive P&L performance by optimising the efficiency of existing products (including but not limited to online performance).  
  • Definition and monitoring of relevant KPIs and control of the measures to achieve the objectives set. 
  • Create and present compelling product proposals and business cases which gain buy-in and allow the business to make informed and beneficial decisions. 
  • Recruit, train and motivate a team of product managers and executives to deliver on the product roadmap. 
  • Responsible for relevant key third-party relationships and leading necessary contract negotiations 
  • Understand the regulatory environment, and how it impacts our products and make appropriate changes if needed. 
  • Ensure an appropriate risk register and control framework is maintained and effective for the Product team. 
  • Develop a culture of risk, quality control, audit and compliance

  • Strong stakeholder management and effective communicator 
  • Coaching and Development 
  • Great digital and external market awareness for new product developments. 
  • Experience with existing product management and new product development from design to delivery.Numerical analysis and reporting. 
  • Good written, verbal and presentation skills 
  • Self-motivated, organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines.
