"We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager to drive forward enterprise-wide risk, such as strategic and emerging risk, within our Group Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic risk professional to join a well-respected team at a time of expanding remit and increasing responsibility.
Introduction to the Group ERM Team
The Group ERM Team, previously the Group Risk Team, is an established team within Admiral’s risk and compliance function, responsible for offering guidance and support to risk owners in the business, whilst providing independent oversight and assurance of the most material non-financial risks faced by the Group and its businesses. The Team is critical in delivering on the risk and compliance function’s purpose of “Helping the Group sustainably deliver our strategy. Working together to support all our stakeholders’ futures.” The Team works closely with other Group risk and compliance teams to ensure a complete and joined-up approach, as well as with entity line 2 teams, providing support where needed and expertise where required.
Job purpose
You will be responsible for the ongoing risk management of certain strategic and emerging risks across the Group, for example, sustainability and climate change risk, as well as supporting delivery of the ORSA for Group and insurance underwriting entities. This will involve managing and steering direct report(s), supporting them to discharge their responsibilities, and managing relationships with stakeholders and subject matter experts, both internal and external. The role holder will also be expected to support ad hoc work as directed by the Senior Manager and the Group Head of ERM.
Main responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the Manager will include:
- You will ensure the appropriate ongoing management of certain strategic and emerging risks, including ensuring current processes and methodologies are fit for purpose.
- Identifying improvements and enhancements to the strategic risk and emerging risk agendas and supporting their delivery.
- Oversee change initiatives and projects as they relate to strategic or emerging risk.
- You will support delivery of the Group ORSA Report, ORSA Reports for a selection of underwriting entities, as well as any ad hoc ORSA Reports as deemed necessary; providing oversight and challenge to ORSA Reports produced for the Group’s other underwriting entities and/or intermediaries; updating the ORSA Policy and managing the evidential template process.
- Provide regular updates to the Senior Manager and the Group Head of ERM on ongoing initiatives.
- Be aware of leading and developing practices on risk management.
- Developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships across the Group, as relevant to the role, as well as building and maintaining an external network of relationships pertinent to the role.
- Support the provision of consultancy and support to line 1 managers in managing risk within their areas via education and awareness sessions (e.g., workshops, training).
- Representing line 2 Risk in relevant committees and other meetings.
- Support Group ERM Team members, including but not limited to direct reports.
- Where requested by the Senior Manager or Group Head of ERM, you will undertake or support ad hoc work that will help the Group deliver its strategy.
- Undertake continual professional development to ensure that knowledge of industry and regulatory best practice remains current.

Knowledge
- Excellent commercial awareness: understanding of the Group’s business lines, including opportunities, issues, and challenges.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and legislative landscape, macroeconomic environment, and broader sustainability/environmental landscape.
- Confident user of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Desirable experience and qualifications
- Familiar with risk management methodology, frameworks, and techniques.
- Proven track record of working in a second line non-financial risk team or similar.
- Managing aspects of the ORSA process.
- Familiar with regulatory developments regarding sustainability, climate change, and nature, as well as international standards and emerging best practice.
- Risk management qualifications.
- People management responsibilities.
Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance
