As the Head of First Line Risk, Control and Assurance, you will ensure risk management practices such as processes for identification, assessment, monitoring and reporting of business and conduct risks are in accordance with regulatory requirements and EUI’s Risk Framework. This role offers a great opportunity to work within an exciting, new, customer focused environment.

The role will lead on department risk activity, will provide advice, independent opinion, and assurance in alignment with EUI’s Risk's Standards to promote informed decision making and controlled risk-taking which improves customer outcomes. As EUI’s Risk Management Framework evolves this is a great opportunity to help shape how we apply this in the business.
 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Risk

  • Promoting and embedding a sound and effective risk culture ensuring areas do the right thing and seek good customer outcomes
  • Lead and provide team support on Line 1 risk assurance reviews and control testing plans
  • Support development, shaping and implementation of a robust Risk Management Framework to identify, measure, monitor and manage the risks to which our customers are exposed, considering individual and aggregate exposures, dependencies and agreed risk appetite
  • Promote a culture of risk awareness across the business
  • Manage risk event recording and assist business areas with identifying and addressing incident root causes with appropriate management action plans

Controls

  • Provide risk advice and guidance which may include leading on risk initiatives, providing oversight on projects, change programmes, incidents, and ad-hoc pieces of work
  • Support Management with the ongoing review, development and embedding of the firm’s risk policies, including communication and training
  • To lead the co-ordination of departmental reviewing, ensuring appropriate coverage and root cause analysis to meet the strategic objectives of the department
  • Support development, shaping and implementation of a robust Control Framework to identify, measure, monitor and manage the risks to which our customers are exposed

Assurance

  • Work to develop, drive and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships across EUI and wider group stakeholders
  • Lead the team to conduct an annual schedule of assurance reviews across the business aligning to indicators such as CRMI, KRIs and GMS

Leadership

  • Prioritise and manage team workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Support personal and team member development 
  • Foster strong working relationships with other managers and make a valuable contribution to the Management Team
  • To manage budgets and to forecast and plan for growth
  • Ensure that continuing professional development is undertaken and appropriately recorded
  • To ensure everyone within your area is consistently trained and developed to a high standard
  • Provide leadership so that you help the the department fulfils its regulatory requirements
  • Act in accordance with the Group’s Information Security Policies.
  • Act in accordance and within the spirit of regulatory conduct rules
  • To develop a happy and talented team ensuring that the culture within the department reflects the four pillars of “Communication, Equality, Reward and Recognition and Fun

 

Skills and Experience we are looking for 

  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy when producing work.
  • Excellent multitasking and organisation skills
  • The ability to work under pressure, to deadlines and to prioritise workloads.
  • Self-assured – be able to confidently request, challenge and amend information as necessary.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with Senior Managers and provide a valuable contribution to decision making and risk management strategy.
  • Effective influencing skills and a collaborative team working approach.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including in formal Committee and Working Group settings.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Focussed on improving customer outcomes.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders and deliver both challenging and positive messages. 
  • Demonstrate a proactive and collaborative approach when sharing insights into improving Risk Management.
  • Strong understanding of the principles of risk management, especially in relation to regulatory and customer focused risks.
