"The Product Owner has overall accountability for translating features/epics to consumable user stories for the Squad and ensure they contribute to the Tribe OKRs. Product Owners work closely with Tribe leadership to create and manage backlogs and breakdown Tribe backlogs to enable iterative and early value delivery.
Accountabilities
- Accountable for outcomes contributing to Tribe OKR’s.
- Accountable for being the voice of the customer by identifying both business singular requirements enabling delivery of outcomes.
- Accountable for owning and maintaining the backlog with a clear focus on identifying relevant features and Epics then breaking these down into digestible and measurable stories.
- Accountable for building and maintaining relationships with the wider business domain teams enabling user stories full completeness.
- Accountable for collaborating with other Product Owners providing open and effective communication channels leading to greater knowledge transfer across the product management community.
- Accountable for owning the scope and business-related risks, issues and mitigation activity.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for prioritising the backlog under guidance of Tribe leadership.
- Responsible for managing scope dependencies within the Tribe in collaboration with other Product Owners.
- Responsible for developing ‘Definition of Done’ and Acceptance Criteria for user stories.
- Responsible for engaging with the Squad team, constructively challenges and provides continuous feedback to ensure the Squad outputs meets the acceptance criteria.
- Responsible for supporting Tribe leadership in defining product roadmap, vision and value estimation.
- Responsible for supporting Tribe in managing scope and business-related risks, issues and mitigations.
- Responsible for supporting Tribe leadership to prepare for key events like Tribe Alignment, Monthly Tribe Planning and Sprint Planning.
- Responsible for supporting the Tribe leadership in breaking down work to product iterations at and communicating these out to wider business teams as necessary.
- Responsible for portraying the following values in everything they do: productivity, quality, transparency, and openness over internal politics.
Key Interactions
- Collaborates and consults with other Product Owners to ensure completeness of User Stories in delivering OKRs.
- Engages with wider business stakeholders to support elaboration of user stories, definition of Acceptance Criteria and Definition of Done.
- Supports Scrum Master in tribe level ceremonies.
- Works closely with Tribe leadership in ensuring Squad deliveries align with product vision and Tribe OKRs.
Knowledge and Experience Required
- Knowledge of the business area(s) represented including current strategic priorities and future vision
- Knowledge of current risks and compliance requirements at tribe level
- Knowledge and experience of Agile techniques
- Knowledge and experience of using Jira (Sprint/Kanban) boards
- Project management understanding with the ability to apply principles
- Knowledge and experience with product management concepts, prioritisation techniques and design methodology within agile delivery environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Admiral’s business and technology landscape
- Desirable but not essential: Awareness/knowledge and experience operating within MS365 Technologies, EUC services, Enterprise level domain services, IAM/PAM technologies, Citrix.
