"The Team:
The Defence and Counterclaim Function are looking for new File Handlers to come and join our team, representing our Insurer Client and their Policyholder, defending Motor and Bodily Injury Claims. This is an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to come and work for one of Wales’s biggest employers and gain valuable experience in the legal field.
Team members deal with a mix of Bodily Injury and Accident Damage work as well as handling complex counterclaim cases.
Being a small department with plans for growth, we are looking for someone who will fit in well to the positive team ethos and culture.
The Role:
We are closely linked to the Admiral Insurance Claims Department who instruct us on the litigated work they receive.
The successful candidate will deal with a caseload of litigated files from the commencement of proceedings, up to and including trial.
Main Responsibilities:
- Managing a full case load
- Proactively reviewing accident circumstances and any relevant case law
- Reviewing Medical Reports & valuing injury claims
- Reviewing financial losses
- Drafting Court Documents
- Advising clients in respect of liability and quantum
- Considering prospects and taking a pragmatic approach to settlements
- Prioritising and managing a to do list
Core requirements:
- Litigation/case handling experience – not essential as full training will be provided
- Strong drafting skills
- Great telephone manner
- Good negotiation skills and the ability to make decisions
- A strong team ethos and willingness to engage
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Good initiative and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to prioritise and manage a live caseload
