Data Engineer

The Data Warehouse team within Admiral is an exciting, fast-paced, adaptive team whose focus is to provide a self-service platform to the Business to make key decisions and drive innovation. Admiral IT promotes flexible working, with your choice of remote, hybrid, or in-office options.

On a day-to-day basis as a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for developing innovative technology solutions, supporting and ensuring the quality of the existing data platform, and serving our internal stakeholders. You will utilise Agile methodologies, and be encouraged to embrace our learning culture, all whilst following the Admiral Pillars of Equality, Communication, Reward, and Fun.

We are looking for a driven and passionate individual, who is experienced in data, particularly SQL, Google Cloud would be an advantage, although a wide range of knowledge in other data technologies is acceptable. The ideal candidate will work well individually as well as part of a multi-disciplined team, can deliver to timelines, communicate effectively, and think innovatively.

Responsibilities

• Ensure ETL jobs are running efficiently and complete within SLA
• Answer business queries regarding reporting discrepancies
• Supporting and maintaining CQA/QA environments
• Updating CQA/QA environments with latest code releases
• Investigating data issues
• Amend existing processes when required
• Liaising with other tech and business areas 
• Release and change management process
• Check incidents and requests in Service Now
• On-call support
• Participate in agile ceremonies
• Data development and supporting of the testing process
• Reconciliation data checks
• Server housekeeping
• Update Confluence documents
• Sharing failures, successes and best practices is in ceremonies.

Skills and Experience

• Experience of working in an agile environment in agile ceremonies
• Good SQL experience
• Working knowledge of JIRA, Confluence and Git
• Real passion for clean code, automation first mentality, and continuous delivery
• Data warehouse building
• You will also be expected to keep your skills up to date by following advancements in data warehousing.

Interview Process

• There will be a 2-stage process, the first is a Technical Assessment and the Second an interview via MS Teams.
• Interviews will take place throughout January.

Salary, Benefits, and Work-Life Balance
