As lead of our UK Internal Communications team, this dynamic role empowers you to shape a cutting-edge delivery strategy for internal communications across diverse channels, aligning seamlessly with our overarching communication strategy.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support the delivery of the Communications strategy, setting the strategic approach for areas of responsibility and ensuring the business narrative is reflected and embedded across all relevant channels
  • Oversee the coordination of engaging and informative communications across a range of channels (including our new intranet) to connect intended audience and drive understanding through engaging content
  • Lead and champion a business partnering approach providing communication counsel and guidance to the business and project teams and helping to identify relevant opportunities to use content to contribute to overall Group/UK-wide narrative
  • Challenge and build the communications plan to ensure content remains relevant, timely and meets our strategic objectives
  • Champion measuring the effectiveness and success of communications activity to challenge and learn lessons from analysis of the data and drive improvement in team analysis skills. Where relevant, introduce new thinking to encourage fresh perspective and role model a continuous learning approach
  • Ensure brand guidelines, communications principles and tone of voice are appropriately applied by team across all relevant channels
  • Work closely with the Projects and Events team on the delivery of face to face and virtual channels including events and (where relevant) conferences

Knowledge, skills and experience

With at least 3 years internal communications team management experience, the role holder will be a seasoned communications professional, able to develop and deliver engaging content while successfully running a busy team.

Essential:

  • Team/line management experience – at least 3 years internal communications team management experience required with demonstrable experience of building and enabling teams to succeed
  • Outstanding verbal and written communications skills with experience of ghost and script writing
  • Confident and adept in the practicalities of running a communications team from producing comms plans that appropriately line into business plans and strategy to translating complex subject matter into accessible and engaging communications to effective channel management
  • Extensive experience of dealing with and managing senior stakeholders - confident in managing stakeholders and providing counsel
  • Great organisational skills and demonstrable use of initiative 
  • Ability to apply discretion, tact and confidentiality as appropriate
  • Excellent eye for detail
  • Budget Management experience

Desirable:

  • Good computer literacy, including competence in the Microsoft 365 suite including Viva Engage and SharePoint
  • Event Management experience
  • Professional qualification from the Institute of Internal Communications or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the Financial Services industry and customer-facing environments
