Household has ambitious plans to replicate the strong market position of our UK Motor business. To achieve this, we are evolving the Governance, Risk and Controls function across our product. We want to place effective risk management at the heart of what we do - providing value to our senior leadership and supporting our 3 lines of defence.

As a Risk Operations Manager your key objective will be to oversee the delivery of robust risk management and oversight throughout Household Claims and Core, embedding group requirements and guidance into our business. You will work closely with existing HH Risk & Support teams and other stakeholders across the business to make this happens - influencing the overall approach, guiding the strategic direction for Household, and keeping risk owners informed along the way.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Specialist Risk Leads, who each take ownership of key risk workstreams (Supply, Consumer, and Operational Resilience).
  • Influence internal teams and service providers to foster a strong risk culture and ensure timely completion of risk-related tasks.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across functions. Working closely with our 3 lines of defence, and ensuring their guidance is transferred into Household.
  • Provide coaching, guidance, and education to managers of all levels and their teams, to ensure they understand expectations, their responsibilities, and support in developing strategies to address identified risk exposure.
  • Oversee control tests, making recommendations for improvement, managing, and reporting outcomes, and performing deep dives to ensure effective control coverage.
  • Ensure the development and monitoring of key performance indicators, maintaining clear controls.
  • Lead the Claims Business Continuity plan and Operational Resilience control framework.
  • Share ideas to deliver continuous improvement for the risk programme. Working closely with other Household Risk Management to collaborate and optimise results.
  • Assist in the preparation, review and issuance of risk reporting and presentations, delivering key learnings and updates across the group.
  • Keep abreast of the macro and micro-environment, regulatory trends, and emerging risks, both inside and outside the organisation.
  • Promote and maintain Admiral Culture and the 4 pillars.
  • Mentor and develop the team, ensuring training and professional development is undertaken, and a clear pipeline created for future risk leaders.

Skills:

  • Technical knowledge of risk management frameworks, policies and strategies and aligning them to business priorities. Ensuring they are relatable and tangible for stakeholders.
  • Understand best practices of designing, maintaining, enhancing, and overseeing risk and policy frameworks.
  • Able to diagnose and articulate weaknesses and identify proportionate and pragmatic solutions.
  • Able to provide proactive and actionable risk advice on inherent and emerging risks.
  • Able to analyse data and make clear decisions.
  • Able to build stakeholder relationships across all levels of the business.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment, managing a large and diverse workload.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a tenacity to resolve issues.
  • Able to work collaboratively with people on projects across various departments.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to think critically and independently.
  • Previous experience in a risk management role within the financial services industry.
  • Qualifications in Risk management will help but is not essential.

  • We will review your CV within 5 working days of application and get back to you.
  • We will give you everything you need to work comfortably from home.
