Job Purpose
As a Guidewire Engineer in Service Communications the role holder will be working with the wider dev and test team to enhance the customer communications for all the EUI brands in line with the demands and needs of the business.
As this is the last discipline needed in Service Communications to allow end to end development and testing of the entire document lifecycle, experience of GW is essential, but we are happy to discuss what level of experience is required.
Service Communications is spread across the business and IT in a traditional Shared Service structure, this role sits within the IT Operations area.
Main Duties
- Engage with the wider business and the development team to understand the changes required.
- Actively making changes to the Policy Center Modules and our bespoke GX model.
- Liaising with Guidewire developers from other teams to review code changes, and get our changes merged into the Guidewire releases.
- Actively support our Performance Teams and wider teams with understanding the changes we are making for Service Comms in the Guidewire releases.
- Development of technical solutions with adherence to relevant technologies and coding standards
- Competently use code repository and promotion tools
- Identify opportunities for knowledge transfer and provide, where appropriate
- Provide high quality changes in a timely manner and that meet the business requirements.
- Remain responsible for written software in live, including initial post deployment support

Essential knowledge, skills and experience
- Passed Guidewire Policy Center Configuration Exam
- Passed Guidewire Policy Center Integration Exam
- Guidewire experience in GX model generation, batches/work queues, messaging queues, web services, PCF changes, workflows & the PolicyCenter Data Model
- Excellent hands-on experience using Java/GOSU.
- Experience of using version control such as GIT.
- Experience supporting incremental releases, feeding in to release plans and assisting performance testing teams.
Desirable knowledge, skills and experience
- An understanding of Agile practices and Agile ways of working including continuous development
- Experience using Jenkins
- Some basic knowledge of SQL
- Experience using Agile working tools (i.e. Jira, or Azure DevOps, or similar)
- Passed Guidewire Billing Center Configuration Exam
- Experience using build tools such as Maven or Gradle
- Experience of regular iterative releases and automated scanning tools within a CICD pipeline.
