"The Travel team are growing and are looking for a Travel Claims Underwriter You will be responsible for reviewing misrepresentations in policy data and breaches in policy terms and conditions which are detected during the claim process. Such policy breaches can invalidate claims against the policy or can lead to a policy being declared void. CUW support and advise the Claims Department and work with the wider business in fraud detection and risk prevention.
Where a non-disclosure is identified, you will need to investigate and act in line with our business model to ensure customer fairness and consistency is delivered.
After comprehensive induction training you will be competent in using both Magenta Claims management system and Socrates Policy management system to understand key information to both a customer’s policy and claim. It is vital claims underwriters see the full picture and so we are looking for people with great investigative and communication skills.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Reviewing and investigating misrepresentation in policy information
- Dealing with referrals from the Claims Department regarding policy issues
- Making policy amendments in line with changing information
- Cross referencing other policies and quotes when discrepancies are identified
- Policy cancellations and reinstatements
- Policy avoidance and claim repudiations
- Covering the Claims Underwriting telephone loop, aiding internal and external customers
- Dealing with post and tasks within Department Quality targets
- Managing your own files and caseload
- Provide feedback and make suggestions to improve the customer journey and our process
An ideal candidate would have:
- Claims underwriting or underwriting experience
- An awareness of the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012
- The ability to read and understand technical documents
- The ability to pay close attention to detail
- Good communication skills and telephone manner
- Friendly and approachable attitude towards other staff members and customers
- Good written skills, including letter writing
- The ability to deal with serious or sensitive issues in an appropriate manner
- Good investigation, decision making and problem-solving skills.
- A high degree of self-motivation and a desire to learn
