"We are looking for a talented and driven individual to join our Complex Litigation Team here at Admiral Law.
The Role:
The Complex Litigation Team mainly deals with:
- Road traffic accident claims, acting on behalf of Claimants who have been injured and who may have suffered significant financial losses.
- This is a fee earning role, and you will be responsible for running your own case load of around 45 – 50 litigated files, ranging in financial value from £15k upwards (largely within the Fast Track limit).
- Such files will likely require Part 7 Issue or application from Part 8 to Part 7 due to reasons of complex law or fact.
- You will always act in the best interests of your client, litigating and advancing the issued case proactively to a positive outcome for our client. Your caseload will comprise a mixture of admitted and denied liability cases with potential to be of significant value.
- Your role is central to developing these cases, either settling them yourself, running to trial, or referring them to the Serious Injuries Team where appropriate. Running a claim from start to end, including trial is key.
Client Care & Service:
- You will be responsible for offering excellent client care and ensuring that all aspects of injuries and losses are explored and advanced. Injuries may range from general orthopaedic injuries to varied investigations and medical reports which may include neurological , ENT and/or fibromyalgia injuries; often your claims will have multiple medical experts instructed.
- Investigations into financial losses can often require detailed and specialist advice, and may range from employed loss of earnings, self-employed losses to on-going treatment, care, aids and equipment, amongst others.
- You will also be responsible for running Fatality, Bankruptcy and Capacity claims, which can require exceptional levels of client care, technicality, and sensitivity. Exceptional client care skills are highly desirable.
Opportunites:
- Within the Complex Department, you will have opportunities to work closely with the Serious Injuries Team here at Admiral Law, often investigating and building a claim towards potential high settlement (ie over £25,000) at which point the claim will be transferred to the Serious Injuries Teams with a personal referral from you.
- You will have the opportunity to grow and develop through close links with solicitors within the serious injuries department and learn from their mentoring and buddying schemes.
- There will also be opportunities to shadow members of the Serious Injuries Team on significant and catastrophic Multi-Track cases, attending conferences, hearings and settlement meetings.
Skills & Experience
- The successful applicant would be expected to demonstrate an experience in handling a caseload of their own Personal Injury files and prior Part 7 Litigation experience is highly desirable.
- Applicants with a strong Part 7 litigation background (albeit perhaps not in Personal Injury) will also be considered for the role.
- Demonstrable prior Case Handling experience is essential for this role.
Location:
- You will be based in Ty Admiral in Cardiff City Centre, working core hours of 39.5 per week (Part time applications may apply).
- The role is one which aligns with our Smart Working model, meaning your days will be split both at home and in the office on set days each week where you will sit with your team on the set office days.
- For any new applicants, there is a requirement of a minimum of 1 month in office training which will include your in person induction.
There is an expectation you may need to travel to Court, Counsel/witness meetings, or for external training, which may necessitate exceeding these hours or having overnight stays. You will have the opportunity to engage in your own advocacy where appropriate and with correct training/supervision.
Mentoring:
- In addition to your case handling role, you will be expected to mentor handlers in other areas of the business, as well as within the Complex department, assisting them with queries in both mentoring and workshop/training situations.
You will be provided with an achievable target (to include billing and issuing performance measures). Additionally, you will be expected to play your part in any marketing events, both internal and external.
A cash bonus scheme is also available, in addition to Admiral Law’s SIP Share Scheme.
About you:
- You will have a proven background in running personal injury claims. You will have had some exposure to Part 7 litigation. Whilst supervision and mentoring will be provided, you will be expected to identify, value and handle cases of considerable complexity in a progressive manner towards a positive outcome for both the firm and our clients.
- Client care skills are key.
- A hunger to learn and develop your own ability is a prerequisite as is a commitment to shared learning, teamwork and constructive communication.

Early Careers Talent Partner
What areas do you look after?
I am currently responsible for recruiting for all Early Careers roles. I help to manage graduate/non-grad schemes, internships, work experience, ED&I programmes, community outreach, and internal career coaching as part of the Early Careers Talent Team.
Tell us about you and your Admiral story?
I am a Business Management graduate with recruitment experience in Finance, IT and Engineering. My last role was working at the Army Careers Centre recruiting for the British Army and I was the Diversity and Inclusion Lead for the region. After seeing all the great work that Admiral was doing on LinkedIn and the fact it was repeatedly voted in the top 5 Best Workplaces, it made me want to apply. I joined Admiral in June 2021 as a Recruitment Officer and took on the role of Diversity and Inclusion Lead for Recruitment. I then moved to a HR/People Executive role in our People Operations team before coming back to our Talent Acquisition team as a Talent Partner for our Early Careers Team. I also completed the Get Discovered Program which helps develop future female leaders at Admiral and am part of the Ethnicity and Culture working group.
Why would you recommend Admiral?
Admiral has a great inclusive working culture, which is welcoming and supportive to all colleagues. There is a real focus on self-development and progression within the organisation and the tools are provided to achieve your goals such as the “Buy A Book” scheme and learning and development courses and training. I doing a part time HR course (CIPD level 5) at university, which Admiral are supporting me with and giving me some self development time to complete it.
