An exciting opportunity has arrisen in Toolbox by Admiral for a Brand Marketing and Communications Manager to join the growing Marketing team!

We are a start-up in a corporate venture builder, hitting our stride. We’re looking for a Brand Marketing and Comminications Manager to join us as we begin our scale-up phase and expand our Growth & Marketing team.

You’d be our lead on Brand Marketing & Communications, and will launch brand marketing for Toolbox. You would have the rare opportunity to build out the brand for a promising scale-up.

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has experience taking business strategy and turning it into a customer-centric brand

  • Can understand the ambiguity that happens in a new organisation, and create structure out of it
  • Has experience in a corporate and/or start-up environment (marketing or brand agency experience is also welcome, in addition)
  • Can lead conceptualisation, planning, and implementation of cross-channel campaigns
  • Can mentor and upskill junior colleagues

Your responsibilities would be:

  • Spearhead both Brand and Communications work, serving as lead on PR activity as well as brand advocate throughout the business. You’ll sit in our Growth & Marketing function, but execute brand and communications activity across our Conversion and Retention teams, too.
  • Work closely with our Service Design and Growth teams to turn the Toolbox proposition into an articulate, differentiated brand identity, narrative, and strategy. Once this is defined, you will roll out, govern, and continually review the brand strategy including positioning, brand architecture (including our brand’s interaction with our parent company Admiral Group), messaging, and naming to ensure we remain differentiated.
  • Lead the Toolbox team into the world of PR by working with our Organic Acquisition lead and our content agency to create and execute an earned media strategy for Toolbox; serve as channel lead and lead copywriter for brand and external communications activity.
  • Work with resource across the business to refine and deliver our vision, story, and innovation to media, partners, and customers, resulting in increased coverage and consideration.
  • Define how our brand and communications should look and feel. Work with our Design team to revise and expand Toolbox’s brand guidelines and make them compelling for channel owners, external partners, and press; build our brand’s tone of voice and style guide as well.
  • Work with our Conversion (Product) and Retention (Operations) teams to ensure all aspects of the brand positioning are reflected within the customer experience.
  • Work with our Growth Lead to develop measurement frameworks and attribution models for all brand and communications activity.
  • Lead brand campaigns from concept to execution; work with our channel owners (Paid, Organic, Social, Cross-Sell, Product, eCRM, Partnerships) to implement brand campaigns and attribute commercial results.

You'll be working with: 

  • Our Head of Growth & Marketing as your line manager
  • Our channel managers and Product Marketing manager as your peers
  • Our Service Designers, who look after customer discovery and product conceptualisation, understanding customers’ needs, behaviours, and motivations
  • Our Subject matter experts in Underwriting, Claims, Operations, Tech, and other areas, who make sure our customers have robust products that add huge protection and value to their businesses

This will be a hands-on job, but you’ll have tons of support from our driven, fun-loving team of professionals.

Essential Skills

  • Previous experience in PR, communications, and/or brand marketing, preferably including scale-up experience
  • Immaculate writing skills and strong storytelling ability
  • Analytical and conceptual problem-solving skills
  • A collaborative approach; you will need to work across functions to drive results
  • Commercial mindset and ability to prioritise among a wealth of opportunities based on expected business outcomes
  • Demonstrated success in solving complex customer problems, driving change, and accelerating growth of products and customer propositions

Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
