Test Team Lead

Job Description:

The Test Lead will be responsible for the ownership, development and management of the Test Strategy, function, test processes and related artefacts for a large programme with a leader insurer. This will include developing and executing the appropriate test strategies for diverse projects within the portfolio and ensuring that quality is delivered whilst maintaining a pragmatic approach to enable the delivery at pace.

This role is a mix, at this stage, of Test Manager and Analyst – the successful candidate will need to be prepared, and have the skills, to do both.

Responsibilities

• Work with the PMs to understand the testing demand and develop a suitable testing capability within the overall Programme
• Define, or support definition, of test strategies for the projects
• Define and lead the Defect Management Process and the appropriate definitions of Severity / Priority for the projects 
• Understand the testing effort by analysing the requirements of the projects
• Estimate and obtain PM / Programme Director support for the time, resources and budget required to perform the testing
• Develop the test plan for the tasks, dependencies and participants required to mitigate the risks to quality
• Work with the PMs to ensure that testing is included as part of the plans, including resource forecasting
• Review and/or approve test case documentation
• Develop and agree the test artefacts that will be produced as part of the projects to ensure consistency and certainty across the programme
• Ensure the timely delivery of different testing milestones
• Prepares the reporting / dashboards for Testing for inclusion in Steering Committees and stakeholder reporting
• Liaising with development,  vendors / suppliers and stakeholders for the timely resolution of defects
• Liaises with the PMs for the identification and management of risks and issues that arise throughout the project lifecycle in relation to testing
• Attending Steering Committees / Programme / Project meetings where required

Testing:

• Writing Test Cases, Test Scripts and Test Scenarios
• Performance Tests
• API Testing
• Providing estimation on test tasks
• Performing Tests and identifying defects
• Assigning Severity and Priority to defects
• Creating test reports
• Liaising with Users for UAT and capturing defects and enhancements

Experience and Qualifications Required

Essential

• ISTQB / BCS Test qualifications
• Extensive test experience within large, complex corporates (and programmes)
• Previous experience setting up a test capability, within a programme, in a fast-paced environment
• Wide breadth of technical exposure
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Desirable

• ISTQB Advanced Test Manager Certificate (or equivalent)
• Previous experience in Network Testing
• Exposure to Service management Tooling
