Job Description

To negotiate cost with both approved and non-approved repairers, decide on the best course of settlement for both the business and the customer.

Where a repair is uneconomical, apply the correct salvage category
- Provide support to all departments acting as a referral point for technical issues whenever required to do so.
Main Duties and Responsibilities

To negotiate cost received via the estimating systems
- Decide on the best course of settlement for the business and the customer, i.e. repair, total loss or cash in lieu.
- Take responsibility for speaking to customers whenever required to do so.
- From time to time visit approved repairers when the need arises.
- Provide technical support for all departments.
- Produce the optimal customer outcome at all times. Maintain excellent cost control, with an emphasis on safety of repair, ensuring that only areas of damage for which we are responsible are agreed and authorised.
- Share best practice with colleagues across all sites.
- Keep up to date with new technology and repair methods within the industry
- Make recommendations for any changes that may be beneficial to the company.
- Concentrate on self-development taking advantage of internal training programmes whenever possible to do so.
- Maintain and demonstrate core values of the business
- Skills
- Must be able to prioritise effectively.
- Must possess a good knowledge of Audatex estimating system
- Must be able to motivate other members of staff.
- To communicate and negotiate effectively, in both the written and spoken, to all key stakeholders
- Must possess an excellent working knowledge of repair procedures of all types of vehicles and an up-to-date cost of those repairs.
Experience
Required
Previous experience working as a body shop estimator, VDA or as a Motor Engineer.
Desirable
- LCV, classic car, super prestige, specialist vehicle and Electric vehicle knowledge
- IAEA, AQP and VDA qualification would be preferable
- 10+ years experience within the industry
