18th best workplace in the world!

We’re proud to announce that we’ve been named the 18th best workplace in the world in the annual 25 World’s Best Workplaces list.

More than 12 million employees from over 8,000 companies around the globe participated in the survey process for the World’s Best Workplaces list. The ranking assessed employees’ views on leadership, organisational culture, and trust. We qualified due to several our operations around the world making the Best Workplaces list in their respective countries. This is the third time we've been named in the list having taken 20th position last year.

Great Place to Work’s World’s Best Workplaces create cultures that are welcoming, friendly, inclusive, and ethical. An overwhelming majority of employees at the World’s Best say they’re proud of their workplaces.

We’re immensely proud to be named as one of the World’s Best Workplaces for the third year in a row. Our success as a business is intrinsically linked to our culture and it's gratifying to see that our staff, not just in South Wales but around the globe, think we’re a Great Place to Work. Whether based in Cardiff or Seville or Rome or Halifax, Canada, all our staff have a huge part to play in making Admiral the business that it is, and I thank you all for your hard work and commitment.

David Stevens, CEO

Great Place to Work’s CEO, Michael Bush, added, “Congratulations to the World’s Best Workplaces. It is a big challenge to build a high-trust culture that is great for employees in many countries across the globe. These organisations have bold leaders who have risen to the challenge--they are the vanguard showing millions of organizations worldwide that is possible and desirable to create a great place to work for all.”

Our people are our most valuable assets. We realise that Admiral’s success comes from the success of its employees and that’s why we invest heavily in our staff and provide opportunities for all. For many of our roles, both in the contact centre, and in our support areas (IT, Finance, Marketing, etc), we look for people who want to succeed, people who are driven to work hard and who want to take advantage of opportunities to grow, develop and learn.  We want every person who works at Admiral, no matter what their educational background, or previous experience; whatever their age, ability or background, to be able to build a satisfying and rewarding career here. What we’re doing to ensure all staff have access to fantastic opportunities We’re fully committed to recognising and supporting talented people throughout their careers. See below some of our initiatives already in place to ensure staff have access to opportunities to build a successful career here and beyond. You don’t need any qualifications, or any experience to join us in our contact centre positions – they’re all entry level. Entry level business support roles, which require little/no qualifications or experience, are also sometimes available.Once you have joined Admiral, there is scope to move around the business to other areas. Many of our entry-level business support roles are advertised internally to give our current staff members the opportunity to progress. Some of these opportunities also come with qualifications, some recent examples being; Marketing Executive, Procurement Assistant Buyer, Digital Consultant and various IT positions. If you fancy working your way up to management in our contact centre, the opportunity is there - 99% of our call centre managers are promoted from within. We rarely recruit externally for management positions in our call centre. We have an internal Academy team who support staff in their development. Not only do we have the buy-a-book scheme (all employees can order up to 2 books per month to help them in their role / career), but they also provide ILM qualifications to anyone and are awarded based on hard work.Beyond this, we support staff through educational sponsorship – external courses and qualifications are offered to those who want them. Examples of course sponsorship are; CIPD, CIM, IDM, MBA’s, etc. Our Social Mobility ProjectWe’ve recently brought together a collection of staff members who, under our Diversity and Inclusion commitment, have volunteered to become a part of a Social Mobility project, with the aim of highlighting any barriers staff from particular social backgrounds may experience and removing them where possible. They will also ensure staff have the tools required to fulfil their potential and are able to progress. The team have already started several initiatives:We have signed up to the Social Mobility Pledge, a cross-party campaign designed to improve social mobility throughout the UK. Becoming an accredited employer demonstrates our commitment to accessing and progressing talent from all backgrounds and highlights our roles and responsibilities as a business in boosting the UK’s social mobility. We are working with the Social Mobility Foundation, a charity which aims to make a practical improvement in social mobility for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. This will ensure that our initiatives, goals and objectives are all aligned towards creating an environment where people can fulfil their potential. We are also embarking on other initiatives such as mentoring young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, providing work experience and internships, and arranging a professional ‘career speed-dating’ event to help young people expand their business network.Read more about Diversity and Inclusion at Admiral here.

We understand that balancing the demands of a family and a career can be challenging at times. Taking time off work to be with your new family is very important and we recognise that many fathers, partners and adopters want to be more hands on and involved with the care of their children. We are committed to supporting our staff when they go through parenthood and a valued source of support is provided by our Parental Leave policies. The policies allow staff to spend cherished time at home with their family, so that when they return to work, they can thrive and flourish.   Our policies go above the statutory pay requirements to encourage our staff to take more time at home when they become parents. As long as you've worked for us for 26 weeks, you can expect the following benefits. Maternity LeaveEmployees receive 16 weeks of full pay, followed by 23 weeks statutory maternity payPaternity LeaveEmployees receive 2 weeks full pay, 2 weeks statutory paternity pay and 12 days of unpaid leave (should they wish to take it)Shared Parental LeaveWhen both parents work for Admiral they can share the 16-weeks full pay benefit. So, if the mother/primary caregiver decides to return to work prior to 16 weeks, the other parent can pick up the remaining weeks on full payIf one parent is employed by Admiral, and together with their partner fulfil eligibility criteria, they can share the Parental LeaveAdmiral believes that the support doesn’t stop at Parental Leave. We recognise that flexible working is another valuable way in which our staff can attain the work-life balance they need and so employees can request flexible working arrangements. Our employee benefits don’t stop here, take a look at our top 7 perks for working at Admiral.
