Software Engineer

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Software Engineer to join our Claims Delivery department at Admiral.

As a Software Engineer your main objectives are to deliver and maintain software applications for the Claims function and to deliver great functionality to the user. You will be utilising the latest technologies and working in areas including Java, web development and DevOps, developing high value technology solutions to support and streamline business processes.

Essential Duties

• Conduct software analysis, programming, testing & debugging.
• Ensure documentation is present and kept accurate.
• Recommend changes to established processes.
• Mentor junior members of the team.
• You will be expected to work effectively within an Agile Scrum team.
• Development of integration services within our cloud-based platform.
• You will also be expected to research new ideas and stay up to date with new advancements in the field.

Required Skills/Experience

• A degree in computer science or a similar field, or proven experience working with the technologies listed.
• Proven knowledge of Java design patterns and Object Orientated Design.  Java 10
• Proven knowledge of database technologies such as Oracle & MSSQL.
• Experienced with Spring, Spring Boot SOAP, REST.
• An understanding of SDLC in an agile environment.
• Strong problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audience.
• Experience and understanding of version control systems such as GIT.

Preferred Skills/Experience

• OCJP certification desirable.
• Commercial experience in the software engineering sector.
• Experience of Microsoft Azure Cloud.
• Event Hubs & Event Grids
• Azure AD
• APIM
• MS Azure Cloud SaaS Tools
• Experience working in an agile scrum team, using cloud technologies, and with test-automation and CI/CD tools is desirable but not essential.
• Unit testing using Mock and other frameworks.

Interview Process

There will be a 1 stage interview process for this role.

Interviews will take place throughout October.
