"The role of Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) Analyst is to support Admiral UK through the identification, control, recording, reporting, verification and auditing of configuration items (CIs) in a centralised Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
The role is responsible for achieving the above by ensuring that processes, tools and correct governance are in place and being used in accordance to the ITIL best practices. SACM is integral to the service management processes, and the role of the Analyst is to ensure that internal teams maintain the integrity of the CMDB through authorised change control mechanisms.

- Requirements / Technologies
- Excellent attention to detail and desire to produce quality documentation with a high level of accuracy
- Methodical and analytical approach ensuring adherence to defined processes and conformance across the IT organisation
- Knowledge of the role of SACM within an ITIL based organisation. Clear understanding of the commercial value and impact to service when deviations occur
- Knowledge of project management and service management processes and the value of SACM to the success of both. Must be able to apply this knowledge to ensure successful delivery
- Ability to interpret and manipulate CMDB data into meaningful reports to meet key stakeholder requirements (preferably advanced Excel and scripting knowledge)
- ITIL Foundation
Desirable
- Experience with ServiceNow, specifically CMDB, CSDM and Discovery.
- Experience of Cloud technologies including the asset life cycle within a CMDB.
- Leveraging a CMDB for Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery.
Responsibilities
Planning & Organising
- Maintain accurate configuration information on the historical, planned and current state of IT service components in order to underpin all critical Service Management processes
- Mitigate significant financial & technical risk by providing accurate configuration information to assist decision making, eg authorisation of change, incident impact analysis, planned releases
- Design, develop and run detailed asset reports for key stakeholders
- Produce KPIs and management reports
- Ensure all Configuration Items (CIs) are recorded, and relationships are created and maintained from Service to Infrastructure in order to support key CMDB stakeholders requirements
- Ensure that recording of assets outside of the CMDB is consistent with and can be linked to the CMDB itself. Make recommendations where control of assets can be improved across the estate, not just within the confines of the CMDB.
Policies, Processes & Procedures
- Ensure that adequate governance is in place around SACM and that processes are being executed successfully
- Take responsibility for configuration management tools and processes
- Provide and enforce governance around SACM policies & procedures by regularly meeting with senior stakeholders to ensure they are fully aware of the SACM policies and procedures and their responsibility to follow process
- Work with the Change Manager to ensure adequate control mechanisms are in place over CIs while maintaining a record of changes to CIs, versions, location and ownership
- Ensure that the SACM processes are in place and are performing within their KPIs
- Define a process for verifying the accuracy and completeness of data within the CMDB on a regular basis, feeding the results into KPI measurement and management information
- Establish a Continual Service Improvement (CSI) plan involving stakeholders. Continually improve SACM to provide demonstrable benefits
Location
We are open to discussion around remote working possibilities (UK only). There is an emphasis on the successful candidate, coming to our Head Office in Cardiff, once every 3 months.
Interviews
Interviews for this position will consist of a two-stage process. 1st stage will be a 30-minute informal chat on Microsoft Teams on 28th & 29th July with the Hiring Manager. 2nd stage interviews will commence in early August, subject to availability via Microsoft Teams.
