Please be advised. UX and product design methodologies are not required for this role. This role a UI role, focused component construction through the use of Figma, tokenisation and Storybook.

We’re looking for a technical user interface designer, who is an expert in Figma and has experience in developing UI components for large scale design systems.

The role focuses on building UI components that are dev ready and adhere to the technical and style guidance of the organisations established design system.

The role requires a love for UI and an eye for detail, as the role is centred around maintaining, creating, and organising new components into our design libraries. As design system UI designer, you’d need to have a good understanding on how components work in the development environment and have good technical knowledge to bring your Figma design to life when handing over to the development team.

This unique role needs to enjoy all aspects of user interface design, from their conception to their construction, be able to adhere to brand guidelines and deliver components that scale.

The role will be working on a number of brands, across a number of channels, so we want a visual designer that loves to get their hands dirty in creating assets, developing their visual identity and is excited to work with the development team to bring them to life.

Key Requirements:

  • Extensive experience as a UI / Interaction designer (3+ years’ experience).
  • Expert / excellent knowledge of using Figma and components.
  • Experience using Figma variables, variants, and properties.
  • Experience working with Design Systems, asset libraries or UI systems.
  • Experience in interaction design and UI best practices.
  • Ability to create high quality responsive UI designs.
  • Knowledge of how to optimise designs for the design systems.
  • Evidence of working with developers to ensure pixel-perfect UI implementation.
  • Experience in organising and maintaining components, through the use of documentation.
  • Good communication skills and understanding of how to deliver designs to development teams.
  • Ability to adhere to brand guidelines.
  • Identifying opportunities for design optimisation, improving design standards, and promoting implementation of best practices.
  • Experience or knowledge working with Design Tokens.
  • Good working understanding and experience of designing with WCAG Accessibility Guidelines in mind.

Nice-to-haves (non-essential):

  • Have a good understanding of interaction design.
  • An awareness of HTML, CSS and front end practices.
  • Understanding and experience in Atomic Design Principles.
  • Knowledge of Storybook.
  • Knowledge of Chromatic.

This is not a UX / User Experience based role, this is strictly a user interface / visual design role.
