The Security Architecture team sits within the CTO department. The team is structured in two parts:-

Security Enterprise & Domain Architecture – responsible for defining and maintaining the enterprise security capability model and associated security domain architectures and roadmaps.

Security Solution Architecture – responsible for defining and maintaining security solution architectures and designs, and supporting development of the enterprise security architecture.

The Data Security Domain Architect will work within the Security Enterprise & Domain Architecture team. The role holder will act as the subject matter expert in Data Security concepts, technologies, and best practice. They will be a trusted adviser to the IT and business teams, leading the definition of the Data Security capabilities, and associated strategies and technology roadmaps.

 

The Data Security Domain Architect will drive the definition, adoption, and continual improvement of the Data Security architectures, strategies, and technology roadmaps. This will include:-

  • Define and maintain the Data Security architecture, and associated strategies and roadmaps.
  • Build consensus and support for the Data Security architecture.
  • Make the Data Security architecture easy for IT teams to understand and consume.
  • Support pragmatic application of the Data Security architecture in IT solutions.
  • Act as a thought leader and trusted adviser for Data Security in Admiral.
  • Actively represent Data Security in enterprise architecture governance processes.
  • Provide Data Security architecture coaching and consultancy.
  • Actively maintain Data Security elements of the security architecture repository.
  • Support the continual improvement of security domain architecture processes.
  • Help to embed security architecture thinking in teams across IT.

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Engage senior leaders and other stakeholders to understand strategic business and IT objectives and assess their implications for Data Security.

Own the creation and maintenance of Data Security architectures, strategies and roadmaps that will enable the business and IT objectives.

Continually engage with all relevant stakeholders to build consensus and support for the Data Security architecture, strategies, and roadmaps.

Influence senior stakeholders and programme teams to support the implementation of the Data Security architecture in the IT and Security delivery programmes.

Create architecture artefacts to make it easy for IT teams to quickly understand and implement the Data Security controls they need (eg., principles, guardrails, patterns, building blocks).

Work with the Security Solution Architects to ensure solutions are aligned to the Data Security architecture, while being pragmatic about architecture exceptions to enable business delivery.

Act as an escalation point to resolve queries and challenges arising from the Data Security architecture.

Actively represent and protect Data Security requirements in the enterprise architecture governance processes (eg., technology procurement; architecture reviews).

Support business and IT stakeholders by providing reliable Data Security subject matter expertise and advice, covering process and policy concepts as well as technology.

Participate in committees and forums to ensure Data Security is appropriately represented in technology and security strategies.

Maintain an up-to-date view of the current Data Security architecture, using Admiral's standard architecture tooling and practices.

Work with the rest of the Security Architecture team to continually define and improve our processes and outputs.

Support Security Champions embedded in the IT teams to understand and apply the Data Security architecture.

Requirements / Technologies

 

  • Extensive experience of working in security architecture/strategic decision-making roles.

Expert knowledge of the concepts and technologies in multiple areas of Data Security, such as:-

  • Data discovery.
  • Data lifecycle management.
  • Data governance.
  • Data classification.
  • Data loss prevention and rights management.
  • Data encryption, anonymisation, tokenisation, key management.
  • Protection of data confidentiality, integrity, availability, and privacy.
  • General knowledge of security frameworks and practices, with a strong technical grounding.
  • Experience of architectural governance, standards, and methodologies.
  • Drive and enthusiasm for the business benefits of security architecture methods.
  • Proven track record of solving complex and challenging security problems.
  • Excellent communicator, comfortable with audiences up to and including C-level managers.
  • Experience of working in large organisations in regulated sectors is desirable
  • Certification in architecture frameworks (eg., SABSA, TOGAF) would be an advantage.
  • Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, etc would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working in Scaled Agile / DevSecOps environments would be an advantage.
