I get to be 100% myself and at Admiral, I belong

Introducing the next blog in our I Belong series where we give you a peek into what working at Admiral is like, meeting our fascinating and inspiring colleagues from around the Group. Meet Shay...

I’m Shay and I’ve worked at Admiral Law for eight years in various roles. I started in the New Client Unit registering new claims, where I developed to a Team Manager role. After this, I became a Business Change Manager facilitating improvements to our case management system. Since early 2018, I’ve been managing the Management Information and Statistics team.

Why did you choose Admiral Law as an employer?

My partner was already working for Admiral Law when I applied. Having only moved to Cardiff in 2013 and starting in a temporary position with my previous employer, I was looking for something more permanent. I didn’t know much about Admiral as an employer, but the more I heard, the more it seemed like a great option for starting to build a career. There are opportunities for everybody, whatever your skillset, to learn new things and get into a new role. My degree was in photography but through the years, I’ve had opportunities to learn new skills which has eventually led me to the role I’m in today.

Why do you enjoy working at Admiral Law and what has kept you here?

Working for a company that takes diversity and inclusion seriously with an active appetite for change has been increasingly important to me over the years. Admiral has some of the most inclusive colleague policies I’ve seen, and it’s good to see how this work continues, as it means I get to be open and honest about who I am every day, with no worries about how it impacts my employment.

How has Admiral Law supported you?

Admiral Law has supported me on not only a personal level with changes that are happening in my own life, but also on a professional level. Working in a technical role, you must keep up to date with new technologies as the change can be incredibly fast paced, and I have access to training tools that allow me to constantly improve my ways of working.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Admiral Law?

Admiral’s drive to do better for both colleagues and customers by improving processes, policies, and procedures, listening to their colleagues and customers, and working collaboratively without ego to improve how and what we do.
