What’s the difference between our two MBA Programs?

Heard about our MBA Programs but not sure which is right for you? Not to worry, we’re here to explain the difference between the two.

We’re always looking out for great leaders who can potentially become our senior leaders and CEOs of the future. We know what great leadership looks like, and we want to welcome MBAs that can make a real impact on our business and society.

A bit of background on Admiral Group

Admiral was launched in 1993 and co-founded by two INSEAD MBAs: Henry Engelhardt and David Stevens, and currently led by another INSEAD alumna, Milena Mondini de Focatiis, our Group CEO.

We’re a large financial services organisation, operating in eight countries and we have a diverse product portfolio, including motor insurance, in which we hold the highest market share in the UK. We’re always exploring wider opportunities to improve our offering and continue our evolution towards Admiral 2.0, an agile and truly digital-first organisation.

We’re proud to have a strong company culture and have been named a Great Place to Work in Europe and in the World.

Our MBA Programs

To keep achieving success and continue to fulfil our purpose, we need people who are motivated, open to learning within the business, and who are not afraid to be leaders in new and changing environments. To make this possible, we offer two opportunities for MBA graduates: the Strategic Pricing and Analytics for Risk (SPARK) Program, and the Future Leaders Program (FLP). Both programs sponsor visas for our full-time roles.

The SPARK Program is a role that reports directly to our Head of International Pricing, Peter Marissen, and we look for analytical and strategically minded MBAs to join us as International Pricing Managers (IPMs). The role encourages identifying new opportunities in Pricing or Analytics projects, supporting the development of future strategies, and improving risk management. This could include helping to launch new products, implementing new technologies, or researching new data sources or projects across Admiral Group. This program starts with an intense, specialised six months of training to help colleagues start their projects and get equipped with the data techniques that we use.

The Future Leaders Program involves working on a mix of strategy, new ventures, and products, with those on the program reporting directly to Group CEO, Milena Mondini de Focatiis. Participants in this program take on a range of strategic projects to drive change and innovation forward across the business. The aim is to provide exposure across different areas of the business such as working with new ventures, on Group strategy, product development and operational challenges. You also get to work as an Internal Consultant for a broad range of projects cross-culturally.

Both programs aim to recruit and develop the next international line of senior leadership, with all participants working on key strategic initiatives across the Group. FLP will typically provide a larger breadth of projects to participants, while SPARK will better suit those who want a more in-depth and analytical approach to the work they do.

Previous MBA graduates who joined this program have gone on to become CEOs and Heads of Departments. This includes Alberto Schiavon, the CEO of our US insurance operation, Elephant, who joined the SPARK Program in 2012, Sarah Harris, CEO of our Spanish insurance operation, Admiral Seguros, who joined FLP in 2011, and Cristina Nestares, CEO of UK Insurance, who joined FLP in 2005.
