"About us:
Are you looking for a career in law? Do you want a role that will enable you to develop and learn every day? Are you ready to take on a new challenge? If so, this could be the role for you.
Admiral Law is part of the Admiral Group (one of the only FTSE 100 companies in Wales). Our success goes together with having a strong, people-focused culture where we put our staff and customers first. Our philosophy is simple yet effective: people who like what they do, do it better. We aim to ensure you enjoy your career with us and in turn, we expect you to ensure that our customers receive the level of service they deserve.
About the role:
As a Trainee Personal Injury Handler, you’ll be motivated, articulate, analytical and be able to work in a fast-paced, exciting environment. For the first 6 months of your career with us, you’ll be trained up to fulfil the role of Personal Injury handler. This involves intensive initial and ongoing training to ensure you have all the tools you need to succeed. Over this period, you’ll be expected to handle claims, talk to customers, value injury claims, and successfully negotiate settlement of a wide variety of claims. You’ll be supported every step of the way but will also be expected to eventually work independently and have responsibility for your own caseload. This role is based in Cardiff, and is a full time position.
A little more about the role of the Trainee Personal Injury Handler:
- Speak to our clients to investigate their claims. This will be both on the telephone, via email and on our web-based client portal. Being comfortable communicating via all means is vital to this role.
- Arrange rehabilitation to help our clients on their road to recovery.
- Review medical evidence and put a value on the injuries sustained.
- Consider out of pocket expenses in your advice and overall valuation, managing expectations around what can and cannot be recovered.
- Provide updates to your clients throughout the life of their claim in line with our SLAs
- Submit evidence and offers to the other side and negotiate a settlement for the client
- Give the great news to your client when you manage to settle their claim
In a post-pandemic landscape, we have committed to having a hybrid workforce, which means that you will spend time both working from home and within the office environment with your team, although for the first three months you will be based solely in our Cardiff office.
On top of the opportunity for self-development, we also offer multiple benefits for working with us. This includes you becoming a shareholder in the company after your first year with us, with you being awarded approximately £3600 worth of shares each year. You will also be eligible for a case handling bonus, on top of your annual salary. We provide free gym membership & multiple other services (such as meditation, the Employee Assistance Programme & our ‘Admiral Active club) to ensure that you’re able to look after both your body and your mind.
About you:
Experience in dealing with Personal Injury claims isn’t necessary. We’re looking for people who have a background in dealing with customers and a track record of providing excellent service. All necessary training to do the role will be given to you & us will ensure that there’s ongoing support.
You will have a strong work ethic and thrive on getting a good result for our clients. You will be thorough and methodical, enthusiastic, and organised whilst also being confident in managing and prioritising your work.
Benefits & Work Life Balance:
At Admiral, we are proud to be a diverse business where we put our people and customers first. We have great benefits to ensure employees have a great work-life balance; it's one of the reasons we’re consistently voted one of the Sunday Times Best Big Companies to Work For in the UK. We want you to have an element of freedom to define a working lifestyle that supports this, so accommodate flexible hours wherever possible.

Cardiff
Early Careers Talent Partner
What areas do you look after?
I am currently responsible for recruiting for all Early Careers roles. I help to manage graduate/non-grad schemes, internships, work experience, ED&I programmes, community outreach, and internal career coaching as part of the Early Careers Talent Team.
Tell us about you and your Admiral story?
I am a Business Management graduate with recruitment experience in Finance, IT and Engineering. My last role was working at the Army Careers Centre recruiting for the British Army and I was the Diversity and Inclusion Lead for the region. After seeing all the great work that Admiral was doing on LinkedIn and the fact it was repeatedly voted in the top 5 Best Workplaces, it made me want to apply. I joined Admiral in June 2021 as a Recruitment Officer and took on the role of Diversity and Inclusion Lead for Recruitment. I then moved to a HR/People Executive role in our People Operations team before coming back to our Talent Acquisition team as a Talent Partner for our Early Careers Team. I also completed the Get Discovered Program which helps develop future female leaders at Admiral and am part of the Ethnicity and Culture working group.
Why would you recommend Admiral?
Admiral has a great inclusive working culture, which is welcoming and supportive to all colleagues. There is a real focus on self-development and progression within the organisation and the tools are provided to achieve your goals such as the “Buy A Book” scheme and learning and development courses and training. I doing a part time HR course (CIPD level 5) at university, which Admiral are supporting me with and giving me some self development time to complete it.
