The Motor Product Insight team use data from various internal and external sources to answer business questions.  But it’s the people who provide the insight and we’re looking to add to our talented team.

We are looking for motivated individuals to drive our business forward, and support various business operations, through the provision of insight and analysis to facilitate decision making.  The role is varied and you will be supporting departments such as Motor Product, Underwriting and Ancillaries. 

Job Purpose

To support decision makers and the wider business by providing insight and analysis to support on-going business objectives by conducting complex statistical analysis to help us identify trends, patterns, and relationships in large datasets.  To provide insights that will guide our decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of statistical theory and methods, as well as the ability to apply these concepts to real-world problems. They should be able to work collaboratively with other team members and communicate complex statistical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.  Be the “go to” person for statistical analysis and to coach and mentor team members.

What you can expect in the role

  • Conduct statistical analysis which may include regression analysis, probability (bounds) analysis, cluster analysis, time series analysis, and others.
  •  Interrogate datasets to provide insight to non-technical audience.
  • Develop statistical models, selecting appropriate models for the data, and to fit these models using statistical software packages such as Python and R.
  • Carry out data mining, analysis, visualisation and present findings.
  • Collaborate with members of the team and other colleagues, providing guidance and coaching and support where required.
  • Interacting with senior management and decision makers
  • Act as an internal consultant using specialist knowledge, skills and experience to advise on the development and implementation of analyses, processes and initiatives to meet business needs.
  • Improve data quality identifying and raising data quality issues.
  • Timely delivery of regular and ad hoc reports.
  • Conduct hypothesis testing to validate or reject hypotheses and draw conclusions based on the results.

Desirable qualities

If you possess three or more from below we want to hear from you.  Full training will be provided, we’re looking for people with an enthusiasm to work with data.

  • A Master’s or above in a subject involving a significant amount of data analysis and/or statistical methods or equivalent experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relate findings clearly to a non-technical audience.
  • A desire to approach problems in imaginative ways and probe available information to reveal new or unexpected insights.
  • A keen desire to take on challenges, learn new skills and improve existing methods.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience using statistical software packages such as R, SAS, and Python.
  • Experience of using statistical methods to draw conclusions
