The role focuses on designing and deploying AI-enabled capabilities into the enterprise estate, ensuring they integrate effectively with customer journeys and core back-end systems through secure, resilient, and reusable patterns. The role combines strategic architecture leadership with hands-on solution design, governance, and delivery support, ensuring alignment to enterprise principles, roadmaps, vision, and technology standards.
Main Duties

- Design AI-enabled capabilities that integrate cleanly with enterprise platforms, customer experience journeys, and core back-end systems using well-governed and reusable patterns.
- Define and champion solution standards, architecture best practice and patterns applicable to Gen AI solutions.
- Work closely with Lead Solution Architects, Principle and Staff Engineers, Heads of Technology, and business stakeholders to ensure roadmap alignment and effective use of enterprise assets.
- Provide architecture consultancy and design support to value streams, grounded in strong technical expertise and practical delivery understanding.
- Lead and contribute to governance forums, ensuring solutions conform to enterprise standards, architecture principles, and approved patterns, while identifying and managing divergence where needed.
- Build strong relationships with technical and business stakeholders to maintain alignment between technology choices and business strategy.
- Maintain a detailed understanding of the value stream architecture and ensure dependencies, building blocks, principles, rationale, and roadmaps are clearly understood and communicated.
- Produce high-quality architecture documentation, capturing decision points, solution structures, standards, interdependencies, and implementation considerations.
- Contribute to the architecture repository using agreed modelling tools and architecture language.
- Support the use of AI capability platforms, including MCP Servers and CI/CD enablement.
- Promote architecture capability across the organisation through knowledge sharing, articles, papers, specialist groups, and participation in relevant forums.
- Support innovation by researching emerging technologies, assessing industry developments, and communicating opportunities, threats, and strategic implications.
- Keep architecture and CTO leadership informed of progress, risks, significant decisions, and areas requiring escalation.
