We have an exciting opportunity within the IT Digital tribe for a Senior Web Developer. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with web development experience to impact the Admiral Group’s websites directly.

As a Senior Web Developer, you will be responsible for developing changes on all our brand websites. This is to include the building of websites and web pages. You will need to deliver high-quality, maintainable and efficient code to defined standards. We require you to keep up to date with the latest development technology. You will need to be able to work as part of a team as well as on an individual basis, and you will be able to multi-task and prioritise workloads. We are looking for a Senior Developer but are happy to consider applications from developers with the potential to progress. 

Responsibilities:

  • Building websites and web pages to meet the requirements of internal stakeholders.
  • Amend and update content on webpages.
  • Implement new functionality as required by the business.
  • Provide accurate estimates and manage multiple tasks with many dependencies.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with key stakeholders.
  • You will need to deliver secure, high-quality, and maintainable code per our development guidelines. 

Experience Required:

  • PHP Development using standard frameworks. 
  • Development of HTML and CSS (SASS) modular architecture for usable, accessible, web standards-compliant websites.
  • Use of GIT or other similar version control systems.
  • Development of complex interactive components using languages, libraries, and techniques, including JavaScript, jQuery, and AJAX.
  • Understanding of client-side JavaScript frameworks (React / Angular). 
  • Development of mobile-specific and responsive templates and components. 
  • Experience using SQL databases. 
  • Write and main CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps). 
  • Experience working with Cloud Hosting and Kubernetes (Azure). 

Essential Skills:

  • Solid knowledge of the complete development process.
  • Working with Continuous Integration.
  • Ability to reproduce flat file designs into fully fledge web pages and applications.
  • Oversee junior web developers and evaluate their code and performance.
  • Liaise with designers to decide on UI/UX elements.
  • Working in an agile environment.

Desirable and willing to work towards:

  • Developing within a Drupal 9/10 environment using Twig template language.
  • Knowledge of Storybook to create bespoke UI components.
  • Knowledge of creating accessible web components.
  • Knowledge of Google Tag Manager.
