"The Admiral Group is a multinational financial services provider, where data and technology are key to our success. We have an opportunity for an experienced Senior Test Automation Engineer to develop and manage test automation frameworks for a variety of applications within our Digital tribe.
You will work within the Digital tribes comprised of multi-disciplined squads whose primary focus is to design and develop technology solutions that support our Digital applications for a variety of stakeholders.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and curious individual, who can think creatively to solve problems and meet user requirements. You must have a keen interest in testing and quality assurance, applying shift-left, test-first principles with hands on experience of automating testing, designing, and implementing testing automation frameworks.
As we work within the Scaled Agile framework, we are looking for someone who can work both independently and as part of a team within a fast-paced and changing environment. This requires an individual who can deliver to agreed timelines, communicating effectively, and thinking innovatively.
Experience of working in an integrated team, refining, and prioritising a backlog and delivering in an Agile methodology is a must.
Responsibilities:
As part of a multi-discipline team, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality of the services and applications we are developing. This will include:
- Defining tools and frameworks to develop and maintain test automation.
- Performing exploratory and manual tests where applicable.
- Identification of test automation opportunities.
- Work closely with the development team to define strategy and best practices.
- Looking for opportunities to “Shift left” testing and test automation.
- Providing clear and accurate documentation for the tests and test automation.
- Contributing towards the continuous improvement of testing and test automation practices.
- Integrating automated tests with the CI/CD pipeline.
- Sharing Best Practice and owning the testing process is in all cadence ceremonies.
You will also be expected to keep your skills up to date by following advancements in testing and test automation.
Skills and Experience:
- Experience in building complex test automation frameworks.
- Experience of Automated API/component integration testing and API tools such as Postman and SoapUI.
- Experience in integrating automated testing into a CI/CD pipeline – especially any experience with tools such as Jenkins or Azure Cloud.
- Strong experience in Java, Selenium and BDD with Cucumber or similar framework.
- Experience with non-functional testing with JMeter or similar.
- Understanding of the different types of Automation Frameworks e.g., Data Driven, Keyword, Process etc.
- Experience of working in an agile environment and the role of QA in agile ceremonies.
- An enthusiastic mentor for team to adopt automation as a definition of done.
- Leading test automation strategy and mentoring testers on the automation testing process.
- Experience stubbing and creating automation for microservice architecture at distributed scale.
- Working knowledge of JIRA, and Git.
- Real passion for clean code, automation testing and continuous delivery.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Experience with automating tests within Cloud Platform.
- Experience of software development.
- Proven knowledge and application of SQL.
- Understanding of web frameworks such as Angular or React.
- Understanding of javascript or typescript.
- Experience with Browserstack.
- Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes.
- Experience with Chai.
- Experience with JSON / XML and executing server requests.
- Understanding of REST and SOAP.
- Understanding of Node.js and NPM.
Interview process
There will be a one stage interview for this role. Interviews will take place during the last week week in July and first week in August.
