Senior Risk Executive

The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June 2017. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December 2017. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.

We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in and are ready for a challenge to help us to achieve our aim of creating a special lending business for our customers.

About the role

This role is a 12-month fixed term contract to provide cover for an internal secondment. The successful candidate will be expected to work from our Cardiff office at least 1 day every 1/2 weeks. 

This role is vital in ensuring the effective implementation of risk management practices in AFSL. You’ll need to forge and maintain close working relationships with first line colleagues, our counterparts in the Admiral Group, the Head of Operational Risk, and other members of the AFSL CRO team. Some experience in technology and cyber risks would be desirable.
Please note: 

Responsibilities:

• Training first line colleagues in the AFSL RMF disciplines and processes
• Supporting first line colleagues with RMF processes such as Risk & Control Register completion, logging risk events, and Key Risk Indicator (KRI) production
• Monitoring first line adherence to the AFSL RMF processes, particularly in the technology and cyber risk areas
• Ensuring the Risk Management System is up-to-date
• Producing excellent AFSL Risk Management Committee packs
• Liaising with Group Risk & Compliance colleagues
• Supporting the Head of Operational Risk in the development and maintenance of the AFSL Risk Management Framework (RMF)

Skills and Experience:

• Experience with concepts like risk identification and assessment, risk reporting, internal control, and control testing/risk reviews
• Ability to build and foster strong relationships
• Working knowledge of technology/cyber risk management and control would be beneficial
• Preferably, holding or working towards a recognized risk management or technology risk qualification (e.g., IRM, CISA, IIA, etc.)
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
