About the job
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead the delivery of complex, high-impact projects from inception to successful delivery across the Strategic Change Portfolio and IT. This role is pivotal in supporting the organisation in achieving strategic goals through delivering projects that realise their intended outcomes. This will be done through effective project delivery that adheres to delivery best-practice and Admirals governance and change controls. As well as delivery, you will have a central role in the continued development and evolution of project management within Admiral through leading by example and coaching Project Managers in all aspects of project delivery.
Your expertise and coaching will ensure the successful delivery of our most significant projects, while supporting the continued evolution and development of Project Management at Admiral.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery and Execution
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of complex, high-impact projects, ensuring alignment with delivery best-practice and Admirals governance and change controls.
- Define project scope, goals, deliverables and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders and team members.
- Track, monitor and report on project performance and agreed KIPs to ensure that projects deliver their expected value and outcomes.
- Provide and ensure clear and appropriate project updates on status, performance and risk/issues are provided, on time and at the expected standard.
Leadership & Coaching
- Lead by example, ensuring that project delivery is best-in-class, both in terms of what is delivered and how.
- Support and coach Project Managers, providing guidance and mentorship, either in 121 session or through team meetings or knowledge transfer sessions.
- Support Project Manager Leads in the dissemination of best-in-class project management capabilities, championing delivery excellence in the team, and across the business.
- Support Project Manager Leads to drive and ensure consistency in delivery, with a real focus on project performance and key KPIs.
Metrics and Project Performance
- Ensure key performance indicators are set, measured and reported on.
- Support the development of a culture within the project management team that focusses on delivering value rather than process, through identifying and challenging the status quo.
- Deliver process changes that enhance efficiency and effectiveness of project delivery, and support Project Managers to do likewise.
- Contribute to lessons learned and ensure these are disseminated, shared and acted upon across the Project Management team.
Key Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential:
- Expert knowledge of Project methodologies, tools and best practices.
- Extensive experience of managing change delivery in large, complex organisations.
- Extensive experience of agile and waterfall delivery methodologies.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Commercial acumen.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to set, track and monitor key metrics.
Desirable:
- Experience of leading the delivery of large, complex projects.
- SAFe certification.
- Project Management certification.

Location
This can be a remote role with a requirement to attend our Cardiff office once a quarter or as and when required. If you live within 50 miles of our Cardiff office, the requirement would be once a month in the office.
