The Senior Delivery Lead is accountable for driving delivery within the AI Strategy & Capability Hub, ensuring outcomes align with product OKRs, budgets, and quality standards. Acting as a servant leader, they facilitate agile practices, remove impediments, and foster continuous improvement. They oversee day-to-day agile management, coach Squad Leads, and mentor Delivery Leads, while promoting consistent agile ceremonies and skills growth. With expertise in both predictive and generative AI, they balance cost, value, and business priorities, aligning IT supply with strategic demand.
Key Accountabilities
- Portfolio & Planning: Oversee and evolve portfolio/programme plans to align with business vision and budgets. Define PI events and resource strategies.
- Backlog & Metrics: Prioritise and communicate backlogs in line with OKRs. Track and report key metrics.
- Leadership & Culture: Inspire teams, role-model core values, and drive collaboration. Coach Squad Leads and mentor Delivery Leads.
- Communication & Engagement: Promote open communication, participate in portfolio syncs, and support alignment with business vision.
- Resourcing & Supplier Management: Build cost-effective contracts, manage supplier performance, and ensure delivery within budgets.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Support Head of IT, act as key contact for delivery, and represent IT positively.
- Technology & Performance Insight: Stay updated on tech trends, develop OKRs, and manage performance/costs.
- Planning & Coordination: Understand IT estate, coordinate release schedules, and escalate delivery issues.
- Risk & Compliance: Proactively manage risks and ensure compliance with policies.
- Customer & Culture Focus: Promote customer-centricity and a positive departmental culture.
Key Interactions
- Align with Value Stream/Tribe Leadership and collaborate with other Delivery Leads.
- Work closely with Principal Engineers and Chapter Leads on resourcing and release schedules.
- Coach teams in Lean-Agile practices.
Essential Knowledge & Experience
AI & Agile Delivery
- Experience delivering change involving predictive or generative AI.
- Strong background in Agile environments and scaling Lean-Agile delivery models (e.g., PI planning, CI/CD).
Project & Technology Leadership
- Extensive experience in project management within the software development lifecycle.
- Proven technology leadership with budget management capabilities.
- Familiarity with tools like Jira and Confluence.
Communication & Influence
- Excellent communicator with strong negotiation and influencing skills, especially across large and distributed teams.
- Ability to lead calmly under pressure while inspiring team growth and excellence.
Certifications & Coaching
- SAFe® 5 Agilist and Scrum Master certification (CSM or PSM).
- Extensive experience in coaching and mentoring aligned with Agile principles.

I joined Admiral in 2006, fresh out of University as a Customer Service Consultant where I dealt with telephone queries and processed policy amendments. After three years I became a Quality Executive within our Complaints Department, resolving complaints, working on complaint prevention and providing fair outcomes to our customers. It was in this department I progressed in a number of different roles including Quality Assessor, Assistant Team Manager and finally Team Manager before joining the Recruitment team in 2022.
