Travel Insurance Pricing
Travel Insurance plays a key role within Admiral Insurance’s diversification strategy with Pricing and Data playing a key role in its success. With the ever-increasing volume, velocity, and variety of information available, Data plays a key role in navigating the complexity in order to facilitate delivery of insightful reporting with varying focus, identifying areas of improvement in the product offering, internal processes and ensuring the product is priced rationally, accurately, and fairly - ensuring the business remains competitive.
Working with the Head of Travel Pricing and as part of the pricing team, you will be expected to provide regular and ad-hoc reporting along with insights and analysis to help improve department processes and support their strategic goals.
Grad Data Analyst will support accurate and timely availability of data and reporting for all of Travel Insurance. You will have the opportunity to work closely and have an impact on all areas of travel insurance including pricing, claims, operations, marketing, and underwriting, and assist them with ensuring the availability of data and performance reporting on key metrics. You will also liaise with MIS and Data Warehouse teams and our external IT provider Socrates to help set up the best data and reporting environment for Travel Insurance.
Key responsibilities may include:
- Support the evolution and development of the MI and pricing tools, and architecture providing high volume, efficient, insightful and accurate reporting.
- Having responsibility for making recommendations for potential improvements to our products’ offering and rating structure such as through external data sources.
- Think creatively and identify ways to improve reporting, including better ways to present data.
- Maintain alignment with best practice use on analysis software such as MicroStrategy, Excel, Big Query & SAS.
- Familiarise and become expert in third party data sources used within the team.
- Promotion of best practices within the team and outwardly to the rest of the business.
- Liaise with Data Warehouse and MIS on behalf of travel insurance to prioritise and implement Travel’s requirements.

About You
Qualifications

A degree, 2:1 (or equivalent) or above in a STEM or strong numeric discipline.
Key Skills
- A passion for data and analysis.
- Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to interact directly with end users at all levels.
- Good SAS, SQL, and Excel skills.
- Presentation skills using PowerPoint would be beneficial.
- VB knowledge would be beneficial but not required.
- Dependable and focused on execution.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing priorities as Travel Insurance grows.
- Highly numerate with good analysis skills.
- Highly motivated and self-driven individual.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions and priorities.
Training & Development
Training for the role will be provided by the senior members of the Data and Pricing Team. In addition, you will be part of a small team and will have plenty of opportunity to interact, develop and learn from others. The team have generally adopted a hybrid working pattern split between at least 2 days in the office and working from home. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home.
Thanks to the culture and structure of our business, the skills and experience developed within our Data and Pricing team would be transferable to other analytical departments.
