About the job
We are seeking an Employee Relations Executive who thrives in fast-paced environments and has hands-on experience navigating escalated employee issues involving complex legal matters and multiple stakeholders.
This role is both dynamic and influential: not only will you take the lead in managing a diverse range of employee relations (ER) cases, but you will also be instrumental in shaping and implementing our forward-thinking ER strategy and roadmap. As a champion of our approach, you will have a direct impact in setting the gold standard for employee relations, ensuring we consistently deliver a service that truly creates a thriving, positive work environment for all.
This opportunity is ideally suited to an experienced HR professional with a strong background in ER and a proven track record of managing cases effectively at a more complex level.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Hands-on experience managing a broad spectrum of more complex employee relations cases, such as handling grievances and disciplinary appeals from start to finish and navigating ACAS conciliation.
- Excellent working knowledge of employment law and current best practices.
- A talent for building constructive relationships with key stakeholders, facilitating open dialogue and collaboration even in challenging circumstances.
- The ability to confidently resolve complex conflicts and delivering clear, sometimes bold guidance that earns respect and trust from colleagues and stakeholders across the business.
- Be able to juggle multiple priorities, remaining calm under pressure, and resolving conflicts with empathy, respect, professionalism and discretion.
- Be able to think outside the box and show creativity in tackling challenges, bringing fresh perspectives and inventive solutions, while carefully planning each step to ensure every action is well thought out and risks are expertly managed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide a valued and high-quality employee relations service, ensuring compliance with relevant employment legislation and regulations.
- Manage and resolve escalated employee-related cases with sensitivity and confidentiality, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Support cases referred to ACAS and those that have proceeded to an employment tribunal.
- Serve as a trusted subject matter expert, providing specialist advice and guidance to the business and People teams on complex employee relations issues, policies, and best practices.
- Support the development and delivery of the ER roadmap, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and evolving business needs.
- Work closely with legal advisors and external partners to ensure the organisation is fully compliant with employment legislation.
- Identify and document key learnings from employee cases, using these insights to enhance future decision-making processes at every stage of the colleague journey.
- Track and evaluate team performance metrics to help identify areas for improvement and drive ongoing development within the team.
- Provide data insights to support business decisions and assist in forecasting future business requirements and trends.
Please note - we may close this vacancy early if we receive lots of applications or business priorities change.
