Data/Solution Architect

Veygo is one of these new businesses and at the forefront of the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) revolution, providing transport solutions for customers with and without cars. We want to make life easier for those wishing to share cars, use their own temporarily, or for learner drivers looking to practice in a family member’s or friends’ car. In short, we want to help people be able to get behind the wheel of a car, even if they don’t own one.

Role Purpose

Reporting directly into the CTO, the Solution Data Architect will take responsibility for setting out the principles, guardrails, patterns and building blocks for use by engineering teams; and assuring via governance and other stakeholder management conformant to strategy and roadmaps, whilst remaining pragmatic.

The Solution Data Architect will provide a holistic view and ownership of the data platform and supporting technologies, building consensus, support and agreement for the future direction. This requires working with senior leaders, engineering and delivery teams including other solutions architects, and other domain architects (both within the Mobility domain and other domains within Pioneer) to ensure cohesive roadmap alignment, optimal use of enterprise assets and well considered purchasing decisions.

The key responsibilities for this role include:

• Lead on ensuring high quality of solution design and adherence to Enterprise Architecture principles and roadmaps.
• Support development of the Architecture practice by sharing best practice and reference architectures to ensure consistency and coherence of standards.
• Engage with engineering teams to implement the solutions according to agreed and approved architecture designs.
• Implement architecture patterns creating reference architectures as real-world working examples of successful architecture design.
• Create solution options and recommendations - during project discovery and inception phases to drive decision making on best solution design.
• Make technology choices for products in conjunction with the enterprise architecture blueprint, contributing to the update of technology policies where appropriate.
• Contribute to building an inclusive digital culture within Veygo and the wider Mobility domain.
• Ensure that all solutions implemented within Mobility/Veygo are consistent with the vision set out at Pioneer.
• Define how CRM data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and IT systems, as well as any applications using or processing this data.
• Take ownership of the overall design of the data platforms within Mobility/Veygo, ensuring that when requested, data can be shared with the wider Pioneer and EUI groups.
• Work closely with the data team(s) at Studio and any other Pioneer domains to ensure alignment of policies etc.

The key experience and knowledge required for this role includes:

• Effectiveness in translating customer requirements and act as a bridge between business and technical teams
• Ability to link master data issues/challenges to business processes, problems and analytics
• Proven capability to collaborate, conduct, and lead sessions with Business and IT resources
• Experience in designing to-be processes technology architecture/capabilities, data standards, data models and mapping, match and merge rules and functional design of solution to manage master data.

  • Claims processing systems
  • Insurance Policy Admin platforms
• You will be expected to stay current in the technology domain through research / PoC’s.
• You will champion and oversee the design and implementation of best practices, working closely with your peers within the Studio and wider Pioneer domains.
• You will identify and promote innovative ways of using technology to maximise system benefit.

Responsibilities

• To act as a lead in the implementation of the strategic data architecture and define system evolution plans.
• To work in tandem with the business to gather and understand the key business strategies that are both in place and emerging, to ensure the target architecture and technical roadmap are effectively aligned to the business’s current and future needs.
• Producing documentation of a high-quality and to a detailed level. Also ensuring all Decision Points, Building Blocks, Design Principles, Design Rationale, Enterprise Roadmaps and all interdependencies are understood, documented and communicated across IT, where appropriate.
• Acting as a point of reference within the team to provide knowledge and technical expertise, alongside the solutions architects.
• Provide consultancy services to internal customers by offering strategic guidance and ensuring architecture principles and design standards are met.
• Maintain strong links to our Group operations, and other federated technology teams.
• Contribute to the architecture repository using the accepted architecture standard modelling tools and language.
