Data Scientist - Veygo

An exciting new opportunity has arisen in Veygo for a Data Scientist to join the Data and Pricing team. Reporting into the Head of Data & Pricing, you will leverage data in a way that positions the department as a thought leader for growth opportunities and strategic decision making.

Veygo is an scale up business within the exciting new Admiral Pioneer portfolio of new ventures. Veygo has the best of both worlds as an independent venture which benefits greatly from the capabilities and brand of Admiral. 

Veygo is at the forefront of the Mobility as a Service (MaaS) revolution and is growing fast. Our goal is to make life easier for those wishing to share cars. This may be learning to drive, becoming a new drive or using a car temporarily. In short, we want to help people be able to get behind the wheel of a car, even if they don’t own one.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Data Science

• Translating technical data to simple language that leads and influences the Veygo senior management and broader business to make data led decisions.
• Commercial experience using statistical models or supervised learning techniques such as decision trees, GLMs, random forests or gradient boosted ensembles.
• Experience discovering, defining, documenting, and utilising internal and external datasets that are relevant for solving high-impact business problems.

Communication and Collaboration

• Highly visible presence across the business, integral to decision making forums and stakeholders ensuring Veygo is making data and customer led decisions.
• Operates as a business partner to key internal and external stakeholders.
• Communicating results and ideas to key decision makers across Veygo.
• Collaborating with peers in pricing, data and with stakeholders from all relevant areas of the business.
• Creation, implementation and maintenance of ad-hoc and periodical business reports and data visualisation.

Key Skills

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Strong data, quantitative and analytical skills supported by a solid academic and work background
• Experience of coding language. Preferably with Veygo’s analytical tools (Tableau, SQL and Python). 
• Willingness to learn from the bottom up and put in the time to acquire the necessary technical skills
• Proactive and creative approach to taking initiative and getting things done
• Team player with proven ability to collaborate and build relationships
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)

Salary, Benefits and Work-Life Balance

We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience. We are happy to see CVs from all candidates who meet the requirements and will be happy to discuss the remuneration package.
