Job Purpose

Admiral is on an exciting journey to mature its Data Management across the business, so we are looking for a Data Assurance Business Partner to support the implementation of Data Management Activities. You will play a critical role in delivering Data Governance capabilities, working within the small but focussed Data Governance Team, with support from Data Assurance Specialists and the Data Assurance Manager.

The Data Governance team sits within the Data Enablement Services Department in Admiral.  Data Enablement Services work closely together to achieve a common goal of improving Admirals Data Maturity. Throughout the last 12 months the team have been working in the design phase of the Data Management Strategy and are now in the position to begin implementation of the activities. This is an exciting time to join the team and you will play a key role.

The Data Assurance Business Partner supports both the Data Assurance Manager and Data Assurance Specialists through a range of managing, coaching, and prioritising the delivery of the team’s work to provide the business with their Data Governance needs. You will create an environment of collaboration, agility, innovation, and ownership in support of the wider departments overall business ambitions. You will build enduring relationships with key business domain stakeholders and guide and support them with all data governance requirements. You will drive data enablement and increase data literacy across the business, seeking to reduce data risk where possible.

Main Duties

  • Support the implementation of the Data Management Strategy that enables the achievement of overall business ambitions and outcomes.
  • Support the implementation of the Accountability Framework including the maturity of Business Data Domains and accountability roles.
  • Work closely with the internal teams in Data Enablement Services to evolve and embed the Data Management Framework for Data Quality, Metadata, Master Data, Data Risk and Policy & Controls.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and appropriate autonomy within the Data Governance team and wider data teams.
  • Through effective engagement and partnering with colleagues across the business, embed a culture of safe, responsible, and ethical use of data, whilst maintaining appropriate freedom to innovate and experiment.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor a road map of data assurance enhancements and domain level maturity assessments, in line with business appetite.
  • Provide support and guidance to colleagues across the wider business who engage in Data Management activities.
  • Liaise with the Data Risk specialists to flag, track and monitor identified Data Risks within the business.
  • Embed a culture of Data Management by design into business processes, working practices and behaviours, bringing transparency and auditability to all Data Management activities.
  • Through effective engagement and partnering with colleagues across the business, embed a culture of safe, responsible, and ethical use of data, whilst maintaining appropriate freedom to innovate and experiment.
  • Champion and promote a data centric, data driven culture across all domains within the business.

Behavioural Competencies & Experience

  • Have in-depth experience of developing data management and governance strategies and road maps, with an evidenced background of having overseen effective adoption into business processes.
  • Strong understanding of all aspects of data management and governance, including data quality management, metadata management and tools, data architecture and technology.
  • Experience in defining, designing, and implementing policies, standards, guidelines, tools, metrics and standards for data management and governance frameworks.
  • Leadership/ line management experience both in line and matrixed environment.
  • Experience of delivering tangible business value through data management and governance solutions.
  • Good business acumen, with a good understanding of business concepts, practices, and business domain language to engage in problem solving sessions and discuss business issues in stakeholder language.
  • Experience of leading cultural change in the way data is used and governed in businesses.
  • Experience of driving data literacy and improving data culture within an organisation.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Data Governance/Data Management.
  • Experienced leadership and motivational skills.
  • Pragmatic and practical, with ability to tailor principles and standards to appropriate situations and audiences.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management, for example conveying information to diverse audiences in a way that is easily understood and actionable.
  • Creative thinking, for example framing new ways of thinking about data management to drive adoption.
  • Influencing, for example fostering group problem solving and solution creation with business and technical team members.
  • Excellent relationship management, for example creating relationships and quickly building trust with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Storytelling, for example by creating a consistent storyline for better understanding and engagement with data assurance topics.
  • Data Assurance platform experience, preferred but not essential, e.g. Collibra, Informatica, IBM.
  • Qualification such as CDMP Practitioner or above desirable.

Salary, Benefits, and Work-Life Balance
