Data Analyst

Data and technology take centre stage in delivering Admiral’s products, and we have a large Advanced Analytics function that builds and deploys machine learning and artificial intelligence solutions for all business areas, including Pricing, Marketing, and Claims. 
However, we don’t like to stand still and with over 4 million interactions with our customers every day, we have a lot of data that can be put to good use. Now that we have an established, experienced function, we are focusing on growth, and looking for a Data Analyst to join our Text Analytics team. 

The Role
The role sits within the Text Analytics team where we carry out analysis of text data sources. Our focus is on building a robust and scalable text analytics pipeline and improving analytics on existing data sources, whilst also exploring new data sources. You will have a chance to make a significant impact on our success by improving upon existing processes, building reports and dashboards to support this and working closely with operational areas to ensure maximum functionality is being extracted.

About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic person, who can think creatively around a brief, as necessary. You must have a keen interest in programming and analytics, have good problem-solving skills, and be ready to research and learn new techniques that can be applied to support the task at hand. You’ll need to be comfortable working  on your own  or collaborating as part of a team, developing code to a high standard. 

Responsibilities
Your role will include:

• Responsibility for maintaining and expanding current ETL process from our existing data sources.
• Collaborating in migrating existing and building new ETL processes in GCP.
• Developing an in-depth understanding of our text analytics pipeline enabling you to identify areas and opportunities for design changes, development and efficiencies. 
• Responsibility for contributing to our core code repository by developing enterprise grade Python and R code for data processing, feature engineering and model monitoring.
• Taking responsibility for customer departments reporting and case management needs, liaising with them and other relevant stakeholders.
• Creating new, and improving upon existing, regex categorisation of text-based feedback.
• Testing the impact of code changes in a development environment.
• Developing, implementing and integrating new reports and dashboards for text analytics output using our chosen reporting tool, Looker. Presenting findings in clear and concise manner.

Skills and experience

Essential:

• Experience with Python or R programming
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to tailor communication across a range of technical and non-technical audiences 
• Strong numeracy and problem-solving skills, with a desire to learn and support on new projects.
• Comfortable reviewing and improving current practice.
• Attention to detail.

Desirable:

• 1+ years’ experience working in a Data Analytics, Data Insight or Data Engineering Team in a business setting.

Location / Working Arrangements

We are open to discussion around remote working possibilities (UK only). Our whole business is still working remotely. We will provide you with everything you need to work comfortably from home. We expect you to be working remotely for the foreseeable future, however, there may be occasions where attendance in the office is required, but we do offer flexibility depending on your location. We do not have a set salary for this position, as it will be dependent on the successful candidate’s experience and the level of role you wish to be considered for.
