An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Underwriter to join the team at Admiral Money.

Admiral Money is an exciting, new division of Admiral Group. We have the freedom and innovation of a small start up with the security of a large parent company, Admiral.
The journey started when we launched unsecured personal loans in June 2017. We went on to be the first direct to consumer car finance provider in December 2017. Since then, we have gone from strength to strength and have some exciting plans for the future.
We’re looking for people who are keen to learn, excited about getting stuck in and are ready for a challenge to help us to achieve our aim of creating a special lending business for our customers.
Please note: this is a hybrid role and will be based in our Cardiff office once per week. Working days will be Monday – Saturday (1in 4 Saturdays).
Key Accountabilities
- Checking applications meet the criteria of the requested product, assessing proof of ID, credit history, proof of income, affordability, etc. in accordance with company and FCA guidelines, to ensure the applicant has a fair outcome on a suitable product.
- Complete referrals within personal mandate level, ensuring quality procedures adhered to and that all cases comply with stated policies/guidelines
- Ensure KPIs and workload is serviced to internal timeframes
- Complete outbound calls assisting with the progress of applications (KYC)
- Have a keen eye for potential fraud that would be referred to the Financial Crime team
- Other duties as required
Skills & Experience
- High attention to detail with strong literacy, numeracy, and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all levels
- Sensitivity when dealing with confidential information
- Previous experience in a similar financial services role is preferrable, but not essential. Training will be provided.
- Experience working fraudulent applications (SIRA/CIFAS) and motor finance underwriting would be beneficial
- Understanding of end-to-end customer application process would be beneficial
