Test Automation Engineer

Admiral Money are looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join their growing Specialist Mortgages team!

The Role

We’re looking for a Test Automation Engineer to join our Specialist Mortgages team. In this role, you’ll design, develop, and maintain automated test suites using Playwright, and contribute to API test coverage to ensure the reliability and performance of our services.

You’ll also carry out manual exploratory testing to uncover edge cases and support rapid feedback during development. Working closely with developers, testers, and business analysts, you’ll help integrate tests into our CI/CD pipelines and champion quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain automated UI test suites using Playwright
• Create and execute API tests to validate backend services and integrations
• Conduct manual exploratory testing to identify defects and usability issues
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and define test strategies
• Contribute to sprint goals by actively progressing work items
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployments
• Monitor and maintain test execution, troubleshoot failures, and improve stability
• Support test data management and environment configuration
• Document test approaches, cases, and results clearly
• Continuously improve test coverage, effectiveness, and efficiency

Key Skills and Experience

• Experience with Playwright, TypeScript, JavaScript, and JSON for automated testing
• Strong background in API testing, including data validation and backend logic
• Ability to analyse complex requirements and determine effective test coverage
• Skilled in building maintainable and scalable automated test frameworks
• Comfortable debugging and troubleshooting in CI/CD environments
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain testing approaches to technical and non-technical audiences

Desirable Experience

• Background in financial services
• Familiarity with tools such as Xray, Postman, AWS, BrowserStack, Jira, and Confluence
• Experience with cross-browser/device and accessibility testing
• Collaboration with third-party development teams
• Exposure to testing or automating low-code platforms and understanding related challenges
