Software Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled agile team in IT Delivery, in which you will be working on our core customer facing websites which allow customers to quote, buy and service their Admiral products.

We are a progressive team working with industry standard technologies such as Java, Typescript, Angular, Git, Jira, and Confluence. We plan to migrate our applications from on-premises to the public cloud next year, taking a multicloud approach utilizing Azure and GCP.

IT Delivery is made up of small teams, that are inclusive, open, and collaborative.  We encourage team members to share ideas, solutions and decision making to drive forward the effectiveness of the teams and products that we deliver.

This role will predominantly be remote, with the occasional onsite day for team meetings etc.

Main Duties

• Development and publication of the Quote Engine, with attention to adherence of all marketing brand styles.
• Implementation and delivery of relevant coding technologies to defined standards.
• Implementation and execution of thorough unit testing and version control.
• Understanding of emerging technologies and their suitability to business demands.
• Adherence to Agile Scrum methodology. 

Experience and Qualifications Required

Experience and Skills

• Ability to creatively think around a brief and challenge it if necessary.
• Thorough knowledge of all relevant coding languages.
• Understanding of Agile Scrum methodology and practices.
• Confidence to communicate ideas effectively to peers, seniors, and management.
• Ability to produce quality documentation, as necessary.
• Proactive approach to problem solving and a desire for continual learning and improvement.

Technical skills

Essential

• Good working knowledge of JavaScript, Typescript or Angular
• Understanding of data management libraries such as RXJS/NGRX
• Working in an agile environment
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
• Understanding of version-control systems such as GIT
• Experience of unit testing
• Working knowledge/understanding of BDD
• Working knowledge of SQL
• Understanding of 3-tier architecture in distributed environment

Desirable

• Good working knowledge of Java
• Have worked with developing applications for the cloud (Azure or GCP)
• Understanding of AngularJS
• Understanding of Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Understanding of JSON and executing server requests
• Understanding of REST and SOAP
• Understanding of Node.js and NPM

Interview process

• There will be two stages to the process. The first part will be a Technical assessment and the next stage an interview via MS Teams. 
• Interviews will take place during the week commencing 3rd October.
