"As a Senior Java Developer in the Operations Team your main objective is to deliver and maintain software applications that fall under the responsibility of the team. You will work closely with the management team and be instrumental in the building of a new integrations area.

Responsibilities & Duties:
- Lead development/solutioning and maintain software applications to a high standard ensuring code quality and unit test coverage.
- Champion new technologies that can be leveraged in our business.
- Mentoring Junior members of the team.
- Interpreting briefs to create high-quality coding that functions according to specifications.
- Determining application functions and building objectives with the team.
- Ensuring that written code falls in line with the project objectives.
- Problem solving with other team members in the project.
- Identifying and resolving immediate and potential issues with applications.
- Participating in group ceremonies to discuss projects and objectives.
- Assisting other developers with troubleshooting, debugging, and coding.
- Meeting deadlines on fast-paced deliverables.
- Ensure documentation is present and kept accurate.
- Recommend changes to established processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in computer sciences, coding, or a related field.
- At least 8 years' experience in Java-based programming.
- Significant coding skills in Java, with other languages being a major plus.
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Knowledge of current frameworks, SDKs, APIs, and libraries.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Good organizational and time-management skills.
- A strong portfolio of top-class coding and builds to your name.
- Ability to work with other developers and assist junior team members.
- Meticulous at both analysis and execution.
- Experienced using MVCs such as Spring/boot.
- Experienced using version control.
- Experience of Google Cloud is desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audience.

I joined Admiral in 2006, fresh out of University as a Customer Service Consultant where I dealt with telephone queries and processed policy amendments. After three years I became a Quality Executive within our Complaints Department, resolving complaints, working on complaint prevention and providing fair outcomes to our customers. It was in this department I progressed in a number of different roles including Quality Assessor, Assistant Team Manager and finally Team Manager before joining the Recruitment team in 2022.
