We are looking for an enthusiastic and inquisitive Senior Software Engineer with a passion for delivering secure, seamless customer experiences through modern identity and access management. You will have a strong foundation in CIAM concepts and protocols, paired with hands-on experience developing and operating secure applications in web and mobile environments.
You will contribute to shaping and delivering our CIAM strategy, acting as a trusted advisor across engineering teams while delivering secure, scalable solutions that enhance user experience. With a DevSecOps mindset, you will develop, deploy, and support applications using automation, best practices, and continuous improvement.
As a senior engineer, you will play a leading role in the squad - championing good engineering practices, mentoring others, and influencing the technical direction of CIAM integration across the business.
Main Duties
Leadership
- Act as a technical lead for CIAM-related solutions and integrations within your squad.
- Mentor engineers and promote knowledge sharing within the team and wider engineering community.
- Shape and advocate the CIAM technical strategy and roadmap in alignment with broader platform goals.
- Contribute to technical decision-making, architecture discussions, and engineering governance.
Implementation & Delivery
- Design and implement secure, scalable Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) solutions using modern technologies and cloud-native practices.
- Configure and support workflows for registration, authentication (including MFA, biometrics, social login), authorisation, and identity synchronisation.
- Create proof of concepts for securing services with various token types (ID, Access, User) and define reusable patterns.
- Develop high-quality software using React, NestJS, and related technologies in both web and mobile contexts.
- Support micro frontend architecture including module federation and independently deployed pipelines.
- Ensure CI/CD pipelines support testing, automation, and streamlined deployment of identity-enabled services.
- Maintain high standards of testing, including unit, integration, end-to-end, and performance testing.
Collaboration & Communication
- Act as a CIAM advisor to teams integrating identity capabilities into their platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, product, security, and architecture to align on secure and user-centric identity experiences.
- Contribute to Chapter, Squad, and Guild forums to raise standards in security, reliability, and engineering culture.
Experience Required
Technical Expertise
- Proven experience in a Senior Software Engineer role, delivering customer-facing web or mobile applications.
- Strong understanding of CIAM protocols including OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML, and SCIM.
- Hands-on experience with CIAM platforms (e.g., Auth0, ForgeRock, Okta, Ping Identity) including configuration and troubleshooting.
- Solid understanding of security best practices: secure authentication, authorisation, data protection, token handling, and OWASP.
- Proficiency in modern development using React and NestJS, including API development and component design.
- Experience with micro frontend architectures, including independent deployments and module federation.
- Skilled in building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with automated testing and deployment (e.g. Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
- Working knowledge of GCP and/or Azure and experience with containerisation using Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
- In-depth understanding of testing strategies across unit, integration, E2E, and non-functional areas.
- Experience with performance optimisation and monitoring of customer-facing applications.
