Senior Full Stack Engineer

What you'll be doing

All of our engineers are truly full-stack: We have no time for knowledge silos and we do everything we can to make sure our engineers are able to work on anything, and everything. A typical day in engineering can mean creating infrastructure using Terraform, debugging the inner-workings of one of our Python applications or writing a shiny new React component for use in our quote engine.

Our pace is fast and the days are varied, but the work is energetic and very rewarding. Expect to collaborate with other departments across the brand from marketing to customer service, and data to claims.

Main Duties

• Lead development of modern front-end web apps using React and TypeScript
• Build and maintain backend services using Python and Django
• Design and iterate on clean, scalable REST APIs
• Contribute to and evolve UI/UX standards, ensuring accessibility, responsiveness, and delight
• Work with Terraform and AWS to support deployment and infrastructure as code
• Write, deploy, and support production code
• Drive best practices in automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment
• Share knowledge through pair programming, code reviews, and team sessions
• Participate in agile ceremonies like sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives

What We’re Looking For

• A front-end expert with an eye for detail, but not afraid to drop into the backend when needed
• Proven commercial experience in front-end or full-stack development
• Strong experience with JavaScript/TypeScript and React
• Familiarity with backend languages like Python and frameworks like Django
• Experience with unit testing and test-driven development
• Exposure to Agile working practices
• Comfortable with mentoring or pair programming
• Curious, collaborative, and committed to solving problems from first principles
