We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist to become a key part of our UK Customer Data Science team.
What is UK Customer Data?
The UK Customer Data area focuses on providing actionable insights to enhance customer engagement and satisfaction, measuring customer and commercial value beyond single product lines for UK products.
Our aim is to provide insights, analysis and data storytelling that enables data-driven decisions within the business to enhance customer lifetime value by leveraging data and technology, in turn improving customer satisfaction and engagement.
We are dedicated to ensuring that the customer remains central to everything we do, embedding customer-centric service design, and developing a holistic view of the customer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building machine learning solutions to solve an array of complex problems across our customer space, including initiatives such as Customer Lifetime Value, Customer Churn, Next Best Action, and Customer Segmentation.
- Partnering with stakeholders across the wider department to identify future opportunities and priorities, harnessing the power of data science.
- Championing the impact of your work, through relevant and clear reporting and monitoring of new and existing models.
- Supporting the growth of the UK Customer Data Science team by actively mentoring more junior colleagues, sharing your expertise and working practices to aid their development and drive the team forward.
- Collaborating with the wider Data Science and AI Community, exploring innovative concepts and keeping up to date with technological advancements in machine learning.
- Working with other senior members of the department to outline and communicate best practices and lead wider department level projects.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Consistent track record as a Senior Data Scientist, or seeking promotion from a Data Scientist role, with previous experience in customer analytics.
- Experience in the end-to-end building and deployment of machine learning models into production.
- Proven experience with statistical methods and data science techniques: Generalised Linear Models, Gradient Boosting Algorithms, Neural Networks etc.
- Strong ability in writing complex SQL queries to analyse large datasets.
- Strong ability and experience in using Python for analytical purposes.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex problems and solutions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with cloud computing, specifically Google Cloud Platform and its services.
- Involvement in mentoring or managing more junior colleagues.
- Experience in insurance or financial services.
- Experience using Adobe Experience Platform.

Tell us about you and your Admiral story?
I started working for Admiral in 2012 as a Customer Service advisor where my focus was customer queries and policy changes. I was keen to expand my knowledge within the company and worked for our Telematics area, closely followed by the Data Validations team. I knew I wanted to progress within this growing company and developed into an Assistant Team Manager in our Customer Loyalty department. Within a year I evolved into a Team Manager and continued this role for 5 years. I later had the opportunity to manage a team within our Complaints department where focus was based on customer outcomes and FCA guidelines. People and talent have always been my passion, which has led me to my current position in Recruitment which I started in 2023.
