We are looking for an enthusiastic analyst to join our Information Security Department. 

As a Security Analyst within Admiral’s Information Security Department you will be responsible for monitoring and investigating security events which occur with the Admiral estate. The Security Analyst team is a key part of the SOC (Security Operations Centre) which includes sits alongside the Threat Intelligence and Security Engineering teams.

The Security Analyst team consists of tier 1 (security analysts) and tier 2 (senior security analysts) who are collectively responsible for monitoring and analysing an array of security tooling such as the SIEM, AV, firewalls, IDS for both on-prem and cloud deployments. As a tier 1 analyst you’ll be primarily responsible for monitoring security dashboards, triaging events generated by the security tooling and performing the initial investigation. Should you decide the event warrants further examination then you would escalate to a tier 2 analyst for further support.

Previous experience as a SOC analyst is not required. Possessing the correct aptitude will be key to success and you will be naturally inquisitive, have a ‘learn by doing’ approach, and experimenting with technology will be a hobby/passion. For the right candidate this is a great opportunity to embark on a Cyber Security Career within a supportive and proactive security department.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor security applications and investigate subsequent alerts/alarms.
  • Work with the other security/IT teams to investigate, contain and remediate cyber security incidents.
  • Contribute to ideas for new cyber alerts which can be deployed to increase detection coverage.
  • Work alongside and coordinate event triage with our ‘managed security services provider’ (MSSP)
  • Assist the incident response team with technical analysis and provide timely updates during an investigation.
  • Ensure all security events are investigated and documented to completion.
  • Analyse and offer improvements against user cases and playbooks.
  • Participate in training scenarios to exercise processes, tools and staff across the wider security team.
  • Stay up-to-date on the changing threat landscape.

Essential Experience/Skills

  • Proactive and hands on approach to technology.
  • Experience working within SLAs
  • Experience using ticketing systems such as service now
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly 
  • Exposure to networking concepts such as DNS and VPNs
  • Experience of OS environments i.e Powershell, registry keys

Desirable Skills

  • Background in corporate Cyber Security or IT.
  • Technical Degree or relevant experience
  • Experience with cloud systems such as Azure, AWS
