Junior Test Automation Engineer

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Test Automation Engineer to join our Pet IT division in Admiral. Pet IT is growing area of the Business Technology Group focused on working with new and existing technologies to deliver a high quality, easily maintainable in-house Pet Insurance solution, and providing the best possible experience to our Customers.

Role Purpose

This is an exciting opportunity to join a multi-skilled Agile team as a Junior Test Automation Engineer for an award-winning workplace! The role has a heavy emphasis on coding and will require experience of working with applications built using JavaScript / HTML5 / CSS3.

As part of your role you will be actively encouraged to contribute to all aspects of testing. Creating and maintaining automated end to end test scripts, developing and maintaining a test framework and expanding automation test coverage whilst adhering to strict quality standards. As our business diversifies, you will be expected to work on and support new functionality as it is developed.

Main Duties

• Ability to analyse software requirements to write and execute comprehensive, thorough, and effective automated end-to-end automated test scripts and regression packs to verify the quality of new or enhanced software releases
• On-going development and maintenance of an automation framework
• Ability to record, report, analyse and manage defects found during testing and manage through to closure
• Identifying and implementing suitable detailed test activities for each sprint set of epics/stories in accordance with best practice standards and processes as advised.

Experience

• Software testing experience including functional, regression and exploratory testing of web applications and services
• Automation experience using tools such as Selenium / WebDriverIO / Playwright / Cypress and appropriate programming language(s)
• Experience in carrying out the correct type of testing at the right level whilst adhering to the Test Pyramid
• Knowledge and experience of BDD processes within testing

Technical abilities

Essential Technical skills

• Good working knowledge of JavaScript, Java or other appropriate programming language
• Experience in using version-control systems such as GIT
• Experience in using tracking tools such as Jira
• Advanced written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Technical skills

• Strong capabilities and proven experience of building & maintaining automation testing frameworks
• Experience with automated testing in Agile and BDD
• Proven knowledge and application of SQL
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins
• Experience with Browserstack
• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes
• Experience with API tools such as Postman and SoapUI
• Understanding of Cloud technologies e.g. Azure

Qualifications (preferable but not mandatory)

• HND in Computer Science / or proven experience within IT
• ISTQB Certified Tester
• ISTQB Test Automation Engineer

Recruitment Process

• There will be a 2 stage process. The first will entail an on-line Technical assessment and the second will be a 1 hour interview vis MS Teams.
• Assessments and interviews will take place throughout November and December.
