Role Overview
The Head of Sales will be responsible for supporting and developing a national sales function consisting of:
- A team of internal Key Account Managers (KAMs)
- A team of field-based Business Development Managers (BDMs)
- The recruitment and strategic development of a newly created Major Account Team
The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future of the sales strategy, owning the commercial relationships with key dealer groups, driving revenue growth, and building a high-performing, scalable sales infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management
- Provide direct guidance to internal Key Account Managers and field-based BDMs.
- Recruit, onboard, and develop a new Major Account Team to focus on top-tier dealer groups and strategic partnerships.
- Set clear goals, performance metrics, and coaching structures to ensure accountability and growth across all teams.
- Support a high-performance culture rooted in data-driven decision-making, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Sales Strategy & Execution
- Design and implement a comprehensive national sales strategy aligned with business objectives, including market penetration, channel development, and revenue targets.
- Build and execute a go-to-market plan for the Major Account Team, ensuring alignment with internal departments (e.g., underwriting, marketing, product).
- Monitor opponent activity, market trends, and regulatory changes to identify opportunities and mitigate risks.
Relationship Management & Business Development
- Own and develop senior-level relationships with key dealer partners, OEMs, and brokers.
- Support KAMs and BDMs in securing, retaining, and growing business with key clients.
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and external stakeholder meetings.
Performance & Reporting
- Deliver sales targets and KPIs across all channels.
- Provide regular performance updates and strategic insight to the Executive Leadership Team.
- Ensure accurate pipeline reporting, forecasting, and CRM data management.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role within motor finance, automotive, or financial services.
- Demonstrated success managing both internal sales/account management teams and external business development teams
- Experience building a sales function or department from the ground up, including recruitment and strategy development.
- Deep understanding of the UK motor finance landscape, including dealer networks and the regulatory environment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong analytical and commercial acumen with a results-lead mindset.
- Ability to travel across the UK as needed.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working with tiered dealership groups, franchise networks, or OEM-backed finance programs.
- Familiarity with CRM and sales enablement tools (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).

Tell us about you and your Admiral story?
I joined Admiral in October 2020 as a Renewals Consultant. I dealt directly with Renewals queries and then moved into the Customer Value team, dealing with mid-term customers and upselling Multi Product. During my time in the Contact Centres, I helped with Volume Recruitment from time to time, and this prompted me to pursue a full-time role in recruitment, which I started in March 2022.
