"We're looking for a Head of Operational Resilience who will develop and own the Op Res framework for EUI, leading the activities to maintain and improve operational resilience.
Role Purpose
- Develop and own the Op Res framework for EUI, leading the activities to maintain and improve operational resilience. This includes ongoing assessment and testing activities with the IBS business owners to demonstrate and report on the ability to operate consistently within agreed tolerances by the 2025 regulatory deadline
- Work closely with IBS owners to ensure that their IBSs, associated mapping and processes remain current and impact tolerances are regularly reviewed
- Define, implement, and take responsibility for effective monitoring and reporting of IBSs, associated risks and operational effectiveness. Ensure resilience risks are identified and reported and that any resulting remediation activity is tracked and completed.
- Following the completion of testing, ensure that remediation activity is planned and delivered in line with regulatory and business priorities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Transition all Operational Resilience Programme output (processes, procedures, policies, frameworks, minimum standards, and output from IBS Steps 1-8) into BAU
- Own, lead and deliver an annual programme of activity including;
- Resilience assessments
- Regular review & updates of IBS
- Testing of IBS vs Tolerances (including third party testing)
- Managing remediation plans to completion
- Regularly reporting of operational resilience status
- Effective risk management of identified resilience risks across the business
- Maintenance and regular review of all policies, procedures, framework
- Support, provide input to and approve Business Impact Assessment (BIA) and BCP activities
- Continue to develop processes and procedures to ensure Admiral is continually prepared for and can meet regulatory and business requirements for operational resilience.
- Support new and ongoing programmes and projects acting as the lead Operational Resilience SME
- Lead and develop a control infrastructure to align with the new operational resilience model and links to Group and EUI risk parameters
- Provide advice, oversight, and robust challenge of implementation of policy, framework, and minimum standards
- Chair the Operational Working Group, attended by senior stakeholders, with a primary focus on managing, monitoring, remediation, and continual improvement
- Oversee and approve the development of all regular resilience reporting and associated risks to the Risk Management Committee and other forums and committees as required
- Lead in collaboration across the business and the wider group sharing risks, known gaps, progress of remediation activities and reporting status
- Set direction and provide SME input to the Heads of Resilience pillars (BCM, Technology Resilience, Facilities etc)
Required Experience and Capabilities
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities in multiple roles involving progressively increasing levels of responsibility
- Strong thought leader and communicator, with a deep understanding of the GI industry and customer needs along with solid experience in communicating with senior stakeholders, senior executives, and external parties
- Background and experience in implementing operational resilience regulatory improvements
- Familiarity with relevant laws, industry regulations including SYSC, PRA, FCA and Bank of England regulations
- Demonstrated capability to manage activities related to business impacting risks and operational resilience, including leadership, a sense of urgency and the ability to perform well under pressure and in conditions of uncertainty
- Ability to lead and influence decisions and actions of others, including internal business partners, external stakeholders, and senior management
- Ability to prioritise against many competing interests in an environment of constant change
Requirements/Qualifications
Essential
- Experience managing an Operational Resilience/Risk/BCM function, ideally in a Financial Services organisation
Desired
- Certified/Accredited to the following industry organisations: Institute of Risk Management (IRM), Business Continuity Institute (BCI), Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRII)
- Good working knowledge, and ideally implementation, of resilience industry standards: (BCM) ISO22301, (Tech Res/DR) ISO27031, (Crisis Management) BS11200, (Organisational Resilience) ISO22316, (Risk Management) ISO31000
